Going to look at a VRS tomorrow and hoping to drive it away that day.

Ok its a 53 reg with 40,000miles, full skoda service history, cambelt changed already, new tyes, and in exellent condition.

Ive had a quick look on the forum and noted the noises im likely to expect from the car on startup etc, but what else shall i look for apart from general wear and tear?

Obv ill check the oil levels etc make sure its been looked after, what common issues are they? Hopefully there cheap to fix if any.

Thanks. James.

(its my first viewing of a skoda, but from the pictures ive fallen in love, hopefuly once i buy it the smile is still there.) :D

Check the wheels for corrosion, as the wheels on my 53 plate 40,000 mile vRS are looking well tatty!

Assuming its been well looked after by the owner and Skoda, there shouldn't be alot wrong with it. Any niggles should have been picked up at servicing etc.

Considering its had the belt done there should be little wrong with it.

What i would check is it the water pump was done at the same time. If not the budget for the belt doing again as the early water pumps did fail quite regular

When should you change the belt on a mk1?

I assume 60,000 miles or 4 years but I dont actually know.
