Odd Locking/window/Wing mirror electrics

Featured Replies

Hi all, Only found this forum whilst Googling and tearing my hair out (whats left of it). A great find to be sure!

I've done a search on my problems and found answers to some but not all. I've a Fabia Comfort 1.2 which I bought 6 months ago and was very pleased with it all in all. Not the best car I've owned but it does get me around and I was hoping for trouble free (German leagacy) motoring.

Alas this has not been the case with the reverse light going first. Two months ago I noticed the car would re-lock itself after a minute if I didn't open the door. Odd thought I but hey-ho can put up with that. Yesterday the front window switches reversed themselves as well as the rear view mirrors. That was a pain in the aspidistra and warranted a looking into on the weekend.

Today, however, the windows and mirrors have stopped working altogether. Checked the various fuses but they're all okay. Phoned up a Skoda dealer to ask advice and they said never heard of that matey just bring it down to us so we can charge you zillions to have a butchers.

Can anyone offer any advice on this? One thing I have noticed in the car since I've had it is that there is a lot of condensation on the windows which looks like its from water and not from people being inside.

Please HELP!

Oh my goodness just put a search in for Condensation and what a can of worms that is! Seems I'm not the only one then . Funny I did do some searches online before I bought it and one of the things I found to watch out for was damp carpets front and back. I checked these and they're dry and still are.

Forgot to say my car is a 54 reg.

Went back to the car at lunch time and after it sitting in the sun all morning the electronic problems have gone with the window switches also being the right way round.

Further searches have also cleared up most of the other faults including the rear washer not working which I'd forgotten to mention earlier.

Only one question now is I've not seen any other posts where someone has found that the electrics just stop has anyone seen this? I've a feeling that this is not the end of the matter somehow.

Ho-hum as I said it's not a bad car but in all the motors I've had this is the very worst for faults.

Welcome to the Fabia owners club :(

Quite a common problem with the windows. Usually down to a faulty window motor on the drivers side. Later window motors have an updated software version which should sort the problem.

The car should lock itself again if you unlock but dont open a door. Its called passive arming, it will lock the car but not arm the alarm. Something to be mindfull of if you leave the keys int he car but not in the ignition or not turned onto the s contact stage.
