Fabia ordered!

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Just registered. Looks like a great site you have here.

After much deliberation over my next car, I finally took the plunge and bought a Fabia. Had a list of my ideal spec when I went into the dealer but he found me a car that's due into stock next week with almost all the options I wanted but with a few extras I wasn't that fussed about (but wouldn't say no to!).

So probably towards the end of next week my Zafira will be traded in and I will be the owner of a black Fabia 3 1.9TDi with ESP, electric rear windows, small leather pack, multi-function module, Tyre pressure monitor, heated front seats and cornering fog lights.

Managed to haggle nearly £900 off plus got rubber floor mats, boot mat and £50 worth of diesel included. The Skoda low rate finance helped too :)

Couple of questions about the options - the cornering fog lights - are they the round style or the ones shown in the brochure? And if anyone has experienced them, are they any good?

Also, the small leather pack - any clues why its the same price on the 3 as on the 1 and 2? As far as I can see, all you get extra over standard spec is the 3 spoke wheel which surely makes the £50 difference between the pack I and pack II available on the Fabia 1 & 2.

Needless to say, neither of these were on my original wish list but I'd rather get a good deal on a car with extra spec than wait up to 12 weeks for exact spec!

Very impressed on the test drive and with the amount of space in the car. Much roomier than a 207 and as good as some cars from the size above. Test drove an i30, a C4, a Mazda 3, a Golf, an Auris and looked at plenty of others prior to the Fabia but it seems to do pretty much everything at least as well as any of those cars and is smaller (handy for me) and cheaper.

Looking forward to picking it up now and keep looking at the brochure and the skoda-auto.com webiste (has better pictures than the UK site!) - sad I know!!!

Enjoy your new car - I'm awaiting delivery of my new Fab 3 estate and it was the super use of space and the general ambience of the car that attracted me. It is a long wait for a factory order, that for me should end in the coming weeks. The new Astra range certainly didn't appeal as a replacement for my trusty 2001 hatchback and I don't do Ford or French!

If you search the forum, someone posted a link to a U-tube video that does show how the cornering lights work, so you may be able to see the answer to your question there.

When you look around you - an increasing number of drivers seem to be choosing Skoda. Read any customer satisfaction survey and they are up there with the very best, so my expectations are certainly high.

Happy motoring!

Jo

I've got the cornering lights. I've found that you don't really notice that you have them, which I guess is a good testament of their usefulness. What I mean is that the annoyment of corners where the headlights light up the surroundings but not the road are now gone.. I used to get that every now and then before, but since I got the Fabia haven't felt it once.

Another handy thing about the cornering lights is that the fog lights light up when you turn the wheel or use the blinker at low speeds, good when parking or driving around poorly lit city streets.

Welcome to Briskoda , I hope you enjoy your new Fabia , be sure and post up some pics when you get her! :)

Welcome to the forum.....Enjoy.

mmmm black level 3!

good choice :)

not sure why the cost of the leather pack is the same when you are only gaining the steering wheel. probably in the main due to the steering wheel being the main most expensive component?

i really like the cornering fog lights and the esp option is a good one too!

heated seats will be lush in the winter months! but multi functioin module? do you mean the screen between the rev and speedo? that comes as standard with the 3, so make sure they arent charging you for that! ;0

I wonder if he means the remote contol thing for the stereo?

Thanks for your replies.

Yes - I meant the stereo controls on the steering column!

I found the youtube video of the cornering lights. Was on a Roomster. I think those fog lights switching on and off may get a few funny looks when I'm driving round:D

Will get some pics posted when I get the car.

Enjoy you new car when it arrives.

ah that makes sense now :)

I picked my 3 up this morning from SW18. After almost colliding with a BMW the driver whom was not amused I got home accident free and was able to fill up, as SW London most garages had queues. The car seeems OK and apart from the Ivory interior wich will mark I imagine all to easily. At home my son asked for the keys to have a look and came back immediately stating there is a big problem. I was not amused, ...................

The wrong number plates on it.

Never mind fortunate that someone had put my old ones in the boot. Off to Southend tomorrow about 75 miles journey, looking forward to see

ing how it goes on the M25.

Picked it up this afternoon. Haven't had much chance to drive it yet but tomorrow evening we're off to mid-Wales. A nice 100 mile run to help loosen it up.

So far I'm very impressed.

No pics yet but once we're back from Wales (and it's clean again) I'll get some posted.

Impressed with the dealer so far (Prestige Garage in Coventry). A couple of last minute delays meant that it only got to the dealership at 10.30 this morning. But they kept their promise of it being ready today, even though they also had to 'Supaguard' it. Was ready by 4pm!

I remember when I used to get the old "we couldn't possibly get it registered, taxed and PDI'd in less than 5 days" from Ford:rolleyes:

PLEASE let us know what mpg you get when you've had a chance to run it for a while!

OK. Back now. Deeply impressed with it.

Got 59.9mpg on the way there (3 up and 60kg of water containers in the boot) and hit a fair bit of traffic on the M6 and A5 on the way.

Did 70ish on the m-way and 50-55 on the B-roads. Accelerated fairly gently as it is a new car!

On the way back, I was on my own with an empty boot, drove pretty much the same way but didin't hit any traffic. Got 60.9mpg.

It definitely does better on the A and B roads than the motorway - Drove the fisrt 25 miles of B-roads, mostly doing 40-50mph behind some other cars, the trip computer was showing an average of 71.7mpg:D

By the time I'd done some dual carriageway on the A5 at 70 and got back to the M54, it was down to about 65mpg.

Probably explains why it did nearly as well on the way down in the traffic - wasn't cruising at 70 as much!

Didn't find the engine too noisy. The couple of times I gave the throttle a little squeeze, the turbo came in instantly and it accelerated quickly and smoothly.

Will be interesting to see what mpg it can do on short runs to work in the week and also what it can do on a run once it's got a few thousand miles on the clock.

Oh, and I was right about it needing to be cleaned after that trip - very sandy rain in Wales last night and first thing this morning!!
