Hi all, i've not been around these parts long, having only just bought an Octy 2 weeks back.

Anyway, to the point of my thread, i posted up a while ago asking for advice on cruise control and whether I could have it fitted, after my wonderful local Skoda dealer advised the car was "too old" and tried to flog me a new one!!

To cut a long story short, Ross a.k.a "Lummox" offered to do the work for me, i.e. supply and fit the cruise kit for only £160. I went up to see him at his unit yesterday morning, we got underway and 8.45 am, and it was all fitted and working by 10.30am. We put the world to rights whilst he was working, and he is a damn nice guy, and an excellent professional to boot.

I really could not recommend him more to anyone that is swaying on whther to use him or not. I travelled from Leicester (70 miles away at least) and it was worth every second of the return trip back. Ross was also showing me around his project, so anyone who wants to see a fast golf in the making, he's well worth a visit.

A tip for next time though Ross, buy a kettle!!

Didnt know that you were a mechanic. My vRS needs some attention in the bushing department. I'v got the poly bushes for the front wishbones so how much would you charge for fitting? I live in Bletchley and grew up in Newport Pagnell so you would be an ideal Mechanic to take the car too.

Good to know there's someone local to me who knows thier way around these cars. I'm in Kents Hill so not too far away, I tend to use Indi-Tech for my mechanical needs but would be interested in hearing what services you offer Lummax and where to get you, will have to pop in and have a chat with another Briskodian. Could you PM me some details

I know the guys at Indetech very well as I used to work with them at a main dealer before they left.

I'm limited to what I can do due to the space in my unit and the fact its not big enough to fit in a lift but you can ask away.

Hey buddy - nice to meet you too, I enjoyed putting the world to rights and seeing a master tech work!! I was only kidding about the cuppa, i'll bring a flask next time.

thats how i found this site was talking to a mate of mine who said you can get cruse control fitted to my ocky so looked on the internet and found an email address for vrs stu emailed him some how and got passed ross's email address still waiting to sell my old car to free up some cash to get it done i hate selling cars. hi to ross anyway and hope to see you soon
