Speedo Help Needed

Featured Replies

The speedo just died! Pulled in to a garage having known the speed i was driving for the last ten miles and then when I started the car, and pulled away, it denied I was moving at all.

As it is an electronic speedo, I assume a sensor has died or a wire has come off. Does anyone know where I should look for loose wires etc?

Fuel guages etc. still happy.

Any guidance would be much appreciated, need to be able to drive past (many) speed cameras with confidence this weekend.

Have you checked the fuse?

Hello, thanks for that, just been for a trip to the post office and guess what.......it works again, looks like I will have to keep an eye one it to see if there is something I do that makes it unhappy. Has any one else had this and do you know what causes it?

A single, unrepeated fault is probably 'just one of those things' and is probably down to the electronics doing a Microsoft on you. Repeated, intermittent gauge faults tend to indicate a dying sensor. I've not heard of it for the speedo (most often the temperature gauge), but I guess the same could apply...?

I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again. :)
