Monitor / TV advice please

Featured Replies

The company I work for is attending an exhibition in Sweden in a couple of months.

We are looking at having some kind of monitor / screen on our stand, to show a rolling PowerPoint presentation.

The exhibition company has quoted me £355 to hire a 32" screen for three days and I reckon I could buy something for about the same price.

We are shipping other stuff out there for the exhibition stand, so getting it there is not an issue. The screen will be used for meetings in our small conference room after the exhibition.

It looks like I can just buy a 32" LCD telly from Tesco for around £400 - will this do the job? Or should I be thinking of something else?

I really don't know my TFTs from my CRTs from my LCDs, but your recommendations would be appreciated. Budget around £350 - £400 as mentioned.

This place usually best prices - Huddersfield too  (to save on delivery charges)

Got our Teco 38" LCD from there recently

32-39 Inch LCD TVs

Sounds about right to me Andy. LCDs are great for Power Point and the like and the viewing angles are pretty good these days. Try this link for great prices (I got my telly from them with 3 year warranty)

I'm sure there's a quasi-legal motorway billboard on my way home from work that says ebuyer are selling them for under £300 inc. VAT...

Yes, here we are: Televisions - 32" TVs - Ebuyer

I've never bought anything quite so high-value from them, but they've been OK for the memory cards, digital cameras etc. that I've bought from them! :)

Having done trade shows in the states etc, IMHO don't bother, go and hire it.

Shipping rates are high and even if you are already shipping items the extra weight will up the cost. That plus stuff is easily, and often, broken. A screen is quite fragile and I'd say that you have a fair chance of it being damaged.

If it is only for presentations what about a projector and getting somebody to take it in their hand luggage?

Cheap ones might not have a monitor input.
