I got my vrs on Friday last week and have read alot about back door seal leaking and was wondering exactly what to look out for.

My car had been valeted before I picked it up and I am getting slight dampness on the carpets and a slight smell but can't open windows to dry it out as it is raining. Now I pressume this dampness and smell stems from the fact that after a valet the car was not dried out thourghly, but what did concern me is in the boot behind the carpets on the side walls (not the flat carpet on the floor covering the spare wheel) I found quite alot of moisture. I got most of it up but have to check again later today to see if after a day of rain it has returned.

So I was wondering can moisture in the boot be caused from the rear doors leaking?

Denis's recent post is as good as any to show you what to look for as regards the doors.

Was the moisture you found on both sides of the boot, or just one? The line for the rear wash/wipe runs along the side where the light is (but I'm not sure exactly where! ) Other than the fuel filler (which I think you'd know about!), I can't think of anything that might cause that side of the boot to get wet... :confused:

It's both sides of the boot.

I'm thinking it may just be water not dried from the valet yet. I'll check when I get back to the car to see if it has returned.

I'm hoping a couple of nice warm breezy days with all doors open should sort it.

I've certainly not heard of an issue with the boot carpets like there can be with the rear footwells. You may want to drive around with the back seats down for a while to help things dry out a bit quicker!

AS above, damp footwells is common but cant recall any posts about faulty boot seals...
