Octavia 1 front passenger door can't be opened - help please!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My Octavia 1999 model front passenger door does not open from inside nor outsid. The door lock is jammed/faulty. I managed to pull the door trim out partly to reach the cable, tried pulling out the cable to try and unlock the door but no go. I also tried using the key in the lock cylinder, the unlock lever pops up alright but still door doesnt open.

The whole problem started when I operated the central lock button during driving for security reason. Now only that door does not open any more.

Has anybody got an idea how to deal with this problem? any solutions would be highly appreciated! So desparate help needed please!

Thanks very much for reading.

You've set the deadlocks, and I suspect an electrical problem is stopping them unsetting.

Hi,

Try taking out the central locking control fuse, and see if the door will unlock manually.

maybe constant power to the servo needs to be taken away to return it to normal. May be worth the try.

Soviet:thumbup:

Fuse box just on drivers side of instrument panel, black plastic cover. Fuse will be F6 and

will be third row down and five along (count left to right)

I had a similar problem with the drivers door. The deadlock was on and would not open. After about 2 weeks of driving the car with this problem the door lock released itself. (I think the door had dried-out as it had rained heavily before). 4 weeks later the whole door went-up in smoke.

I saved the car by disconecting the battery (it was lucky I had a 10mm spanner to hand)

I later found the electrical wires entering the door had shorted-out and were getting quite hot. I was surprised none of the fuses popped.

I Hope this helps
