17705, whats that then

Featured Replies

Driving home today all was well, till suddenly I wondered where my 230BHP had gone. No wheelspin in 1st, it felt slower than mr mondeo. So off to the dealer I go, its on the way home. Mark hooked up the vag thingy, and I had 2 fault codes recorded.

The first related to the temp sensor (signal to large), apparently quiet a common problem,

and then this other one

17705 , the description said references.

He is going to try and find out what this means, anyone here come across it?

Fault codes were then erased and normal service has resumed.

Car was jabba'd 12 months ago, and no problems till now. 3 weeks before the warranty runs out.

Manny, read this thread for starters.

The Dealer has now ordered the pipe mentioned in the other thread so will see what happens.

I hope it resolves it for you. I haven't been able to check the codes on mine since I got the pipe replaced, but I hope it doesn't reappear.

At the time the dealer was very reluctant to change it, but he must have got further information, probably Technical Bulletin No.56.

I hope it resolves the problem for you too,it appears to work for most people but unfortunately not in my case, the code is still present on my car and the surging is still as bad as ever,im just hoping skoda come up with another tech bulletin soon because mines been playing up since december and its been backwards and forwards to the dealer for various parts to be changed but none of them have made any difference and now im getting very frustrated because the dealer seems to be stumped,my warranty is running out and i cant get it remapped until its running right

Pipe was changed on mine and was ok for 2 weeks.

Delac said it was more than likely the N75 which i have changed and fingers crossed it's bean ok since.

I had those errors appear on my car. The sensor was replaced straight away and after 3 months of trying to persuade the main stealers to replace the pipe they did. The error went away for about 1 week and re-appeared. Swearing and cursing i decided to clean out the MAF. Since then I've done about 600 miles in 3 weeks, the code still hasn't re-appeared and the car seems a bit nippier.

The parts are in, just need to call them now to arrange fitting of one temp sensor and one pipe.

Join the club. I recently changed the N75 as that seemed to be the cause but it's still coming up with 17705 as the fault code? What do you do?

I know what you mean Funkyjutel, ive had a MAF,N75,DV,Turbo Pipe, throttle body cleaned and other bits checked but car still surges and 17705 keeps coming back and i like you would like to find out the cause of this problem because its been nearly 7 months since i reported the fault to my dealer and my car is still no better,im getting a little bit annoyed with skoda and my local dealer because they dont seem to know much about a car they build/service

How was you're MAF cleaned? I've found that in the past that most companies can't clean them properly. Maybe it's just that I have access to various chemicals that most people don't, but things are never cleaned as good as they could be. Also have you're breather pipes checked out as a small leak can cause big problems as I found out at great expense on my Audi. Cost about

Well the boyz at Rainworth Skoda are going to be taking a look at mine, so I will report back their findings. I suspect air leak somewhere as the car seems to be using more petrol than usual as well, so might be compensating for less boost by using more fuel? I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. Will be int to see what you get Manny!

Hi Pugsythebear, the MAF was actually replaced about 3000 miles ago and it was the throttle body that was cleaned out,but i tend to agree with funkyjutel that my car seems to have some sort of air leak because it sounds like i can hear air escaping and fuel economy is worse, just booked car in at a different dealer out of town for the 12th of next month and they are keeping it for 3 days whilst i run around in an octy demonstrator so fingers crossed they will cure it for me.

Well all I can say is good luck everyone and I hope the smiles are back on your faces soon. Now to sort out my air con, tyres, cruise control, give it a servicing.........

Manny did u find out what your 17705 fault was down to?

Would be interested to know as mine is going in on Saturday for the once over.

Andre, got it back yesterday. The fault code had not been recorded after the 1st incident. The temp sensor and the pipe mentioned in the other thread have been changed. The true test will be this coming weekend, at the nurburgring but thats a bit late for your saturday apointment. I'll keep you posted.

Cheers Manny. Likewise I will let you know in turn what happens with my mota!

Well mine turned out to be a dodgy throttle body. The seal was almost gone and the good people (highly recommended - Cheers Rich!) at Rainworth Skoda Nr Mansfield sorted out with the minimum of fuss.

Wow, plently of pull and feels great (again!) so :D:) :nana: :woohoo: :clapclap: :bounce: :dtp: and icons to that effect!!

Any idea how they checked the Throttle Body Seal?? I keep getting the fault, but everything seems to check out, even that boost hose mentioned

They just took it off and it was knackered. Kind of worn away on one side. Then new throttle body and gasket. Sorted! My advice is get to a good recommended dealer who know what they are doing. I fully recommend Rainworth.

My car also has the 17705 fault code back after having the intercooler pipe fitting in April, I checked VAG COM with a friend yesterday, the gasket on the throttle body looks okay though

**** it came back again today, same symptoms. Lack of power etc... Pulled up at some traffic lights and restarted the engine, normal service resumed. I have done several thousand miles without hassle, including a few laps of the ring and its back :(
