Red Fabia Vrs

Featured Replies

Thinkin of getting one does the red fade or not

Well mine is an 04 and no fade yet.

Some polishes have UVA & UVB protection so look after a good one with regular clean and polish and you should be ok I guess.

Regards,

Mark

I think only old crappy Fords from the 1980s fade when they are red!

I had a red Honda for 7 years and that didn't fade at all.

Regular cleaning and a garage help BTW.

As said above, Look after the paint with regular cleaning, waxing etc and you should be fine.

I've yet to see a faded Red vRS.

Mines a 53 plate, took the side strips off after 2 years and there was no colour difference at all, and now it's all still as red as the day I got it.

Also had the bumper re-sprayed at two years due to the paint peeling issue. The new paint was an exact match with the rest of the car, so I really doubt any fading will happen.

(Mine's on a driveway and not 'enthusiastically' cleaned. Not neglected either though; specifically waxed about 4-5 times in it's entire life. The rest is only a hand wash with 'wash & wax' soap.)

Oooooooh yes, and the first of the Mondeos were absolutely AWFUL for fading. The early VX Corsas were prettty bad also!

There is a bloke who drives around here in a pink proton

That must have been red

back in the day

Yep. Vauxhall Flame Red is terrible for it, the early ones at least.

My Dad's RS2000 also needed a respray

Yeah I was always T Cutting my '93 Mitsi Lancer GTI , I havent seen a faded Fabia yet , saw an awful pink Felicia estate the other day though , on a W plate so newer than my Fabia - he should have been ashamed to drive it as he was behind me after I'd just spent 6 hrs on mine....just a slight difference in shine.... ;)

I hope not, I'm hoping to get mine soon too :-)

I had an R plate Red Chrysler neon that never faded, always a lovely bright red colour.

Not so much fading but the top surface of the spoiler on mine has become faded. Apparently the lacquer has worn off.

I think the fading was more of a problem in the 80's and early to mid nineties. You don't tend to see it any more.

My red 1990 CRX, 1990 MR2, 1992 Cavalier and 1993 BMW all faded like mad and needed regular care. None of the red Fabia's I've seen were faded.....maybe dirty and in need of a good wash but not pink orange. :)

It's only the 'older' single stage solid reds that used to fade..read..Corsa, Punto, MR2 spring to mind.

You should find the Corrida red has a clearcoat so no chance of fading issues.

Its the plastics that seem to be the problem.

My friend had an 04 yellow fabia vrs and the spoiler and bumpers had faded.

Also I know its a Seat but another friends front and back bumpers have faded from black to a darkish grey lol - 53 LCR

Saw an old R reg. Seat thing on the m'way yesterday. It looked really bad. The paint was red at one time......

I wouldn't worry too much if a car has faded, it's amazing how paint can be brought back to life these days.

Three years on and my red VRS is still gleaming. Not a hint of fade anywhere.

payman:)

I went to buy a golf a few years ago, and the salesman stated that VW had put a **** load of cash in to produce a red paint that doesn't fade. I'm sure that the red paint used on the skoda's will be the same stuff as used on VW, SEAT's and Audi's

I would expect so.

I had the same thought before i bought my Red Furbie... Mainly due to the fact that 3 years ago I had a K reg Corsa and that faded like hell!!!

I'm just keeping it clean and hoping as every Skoda i've seen in Red so far (no matter what age looks as it did when new paint wise.

Very red and very proud after over 3 years, mainly kept outside!
