Make absolutely certain that the central locking and associated door-open detectors are working OK. I had a fairly common issue with my Roomy that having unlocked the vehicle, it did not register that the drivers door had been opened, so it proceeded to re-lock itself assuming that the unlock button had been pressed in error. 'dealer ultimately replaced the drivers lock.

My locks are now behaving themselves. The local Skoda dealer did the work for about £360 and the second hand car dealer paid the bill. -

I went back to the second hand car dealer with the Roomster, hoping to establish whether the relock issue was covered by the warranty. Unfortunately it didn't go well; not even reputation protection words of sympathy. But he did give me the number of the Motor Codes Self-regulatory body so that I could review the T&C of the standard warranty. They were helpful. Suggesting that it was more of a sale-of-goods complaint than warranty and included some pro-forma letters. I sent the first letter, recorded-delivery as pdf attached. And got a hand written reply on a slip of paper asking me to take it to a Skoda garage for repair which he will "approve". It's booked in for next week. 'let you know how it goes. -
NZ100. Do you mean that the additional load squeezing down on the tyres has a negligible effect on the tyre pressure? I somehow thought that the load would partly increase the pressure anyway, though more air/pressure would still be needed to keep the tyre in shape. Good advice about returning to normal while away and unpacked. I imagine caravan towers sliding all over the road while they're at a site because they're still set up for heavy load.

With this being the first Diesel' that I've owned I was keen to work out when is the best time to change gear. I took a few measurements of RPM at different speeds in the different gears to establish the conversion factors and put together the sheet attached. As for the colours. I decided that the minimum RPM the BNV engine is comfortable at is 1,500 and the maximum I was prepared to rev it to is 3,750; and formatted accordingly. I decided that on a flat road, changing up and down on the ten miles-an-hour has sympathy for the car, gives reasonable economy and performance. 'hope somebody else finds it useful. Sounds like something's been eating your wiring. Or it has indeed been possessed. Do you hear voices in the static?

Thanks for all of your comments. I understand what's meant to happen now. It seems my drivers door-open micro switch is intermittent. So I doubt I'll be able to use the dealers warranty. I'm making do with a long key chain so I can't leave it in the motor. -

Thanks for clearing that up. 'teach me for being a tart and looking at the Octavia pages. I might look into taming Autolock and Safe Secure. There's got to be some parameters for them on the ECU that those with the laptop can tweak.
