Coolant Temp Sensor

Featured Replies

Remove the engine cover, black one with the badge on it and the one sitting on the air filter

Remove three screws from the air intake on the landing panel

Remove the air intake

Undo the bolt on the wing that holds the air filter housing and remove air filter housing, make sure you don't lose the gromment's that plug it into the chassis

Look down and to the right of the rear of the engine and you will see a green sensor

If any cables or pipes are restricting it, undo them and put them to one side, but remember to reattach later or your turbo won't work

Using a small flatblade screwdriver detatch the loom from the sensor, you can do this once the sensor is out if you find it easier

Push the horseshoe shaped clip off the sensor and pull the sensor out, mind you don't lose or break the clip though

Coolant will now be running out, you can attempt to save it or just top back up later fresh

Put the sensor back in it's hole and push the horse clip back to secure it

Attach the loom

Put all pipes and other parts you've removed back on

Top up the header tank with pre-mixed anti freeze

Start car and test drive it for a mile or so, check anti freeze on return.

When you remove the old sensor check to see if the O ring is still on the sensor, if it is then this needs to be put onto the new sensor (or a new one fitted) otherwise it will leak, likewise if you are fitting a new O ring make sure the old one is not still in situ, otherwise ..... you get the idea by now :)
