Well I finally fitted the K04 setup :whew: . I started on Friday night and got the DP off and some boost pipes.

Saturday I took the turbo off with the help of a good friend and installed the K04 turbo .

Next I started on the injectors which are inside the inlet manifold. There were lots of electrical connections and it was fiddly but I managed it.

EWW!! I tried to clean these up as best I could but it was like tar!!

On Sunday morning I completed the install by connecting the new intake pipes and DV relocation. After a quick spin I got worried as I got a fault code about a flap motor which I believe is in the inlet manifold and I didn't want to take that off again. A quick search revealed one connector I hadn't plugged back in.

The software was supplied by DNA tuning in Alcester, great bloke :).

The fitting was a PITA TBH as you need a good selection of tools and it kept spitting and was damn cold, but it was worth it

The car really flies now with much more pull than it ever had with the K03. The front wheels light up very easily and it really pulls well!

Due to the idiots panic buying petrol I had to fill with 95ron so and I also have a misfire at high rpm on cylinder 2 so I haven't seen the full potential yet but I'm impressed!

Big thanks to my mate Simon and John @ DNA Tuning  .

I need a K04 conversion in my life :)

Nice job

About time mate you've had the bits long enough. I'll be around at some point soon for a test drive.

.......and for me to fit your DV lol.

Well done. Must be extra satisfying that you've done it yourself too

Or York, or Portsmouth ;)

Good job. I have turbo envy.

Or York, or Portsmouth ;)

At least not till I have my K04 conversion :giggle: :giggle:

Hmm, think I'll just pull over when I see any black vRS's in my mirror and save the embarassment :giggle:

Haha. Whereabouts in York are you? I've probably seen you in passing but without knowing.

Out in Strensall, I'm sure I've not seen you yet, your vRS is quite distinctive - and obviously a bit quick!

The only other vRS I have seen in York more than once is a pre-FL estate in sprint yellow with orange chevrons on the boot lid!

I'm out acomb way. See you around. If you want to see what the fuss is all about I don't mind giving you a demo of my car

I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for you now - thanks!

Jaysus! So not including the software, you paid under 700 quid for a complete K04 conversion???? Did you source the turbo on the mk5golfgti forum?

Guy in Edinburgh was selling a k04 kit for £600 on pistonheads.

Good work

How would you compare it to the KO3 stage 2+/3 setup?

Have you had to change your driving style due to more lag compared to the KO3 or any other noticeable differences?

Ive not driven it a great deal yet but it is a lot quicker than the k03, I can tell this by the passengers heads jerking more :D. It wheels spins a lot easier but i like that lol. The car keeps pulling and pulling even with 95 Ron petrol where as before it tapered off. I need to fix the misfire though.

Martin, I think I may have mentioned this somewhere else, but just so you are aware - I hate you!

Yes I know but in time you'll get over it ;)

Are you going to dyno it once you have it running spot on?

What figures are you hoping for? Around the 320bhp?

Maybe if there is a RR day at RS tuning sometime.

320bhp would be fine, my car is high mileage and I don't want to stress it too much.

Looks like its cylinder 2 injector :( I swapped plug and coil but it's still misfiring on cyl 2, another £97 down. I've had 2 maps now, the first was a stage 1 style file which didn't misfire, current one is a full on stage 2+ file which must be putting through more fuel and has shown the injector to be a weak point.

You can hate me a little less now Lee :D

320bhp sounds about spot on, you should be happy with that mate
