I must have more power captain

Featured Replies

Hi

I have looked at a few of the forums and this seems like about the best,

You see I have this problem, I have read various accounts of people losing boost and limping home, oh and the dash lighting up like the proverbial, followed by computer says no !

Mine differs slightly as in it makes no difference what the weather is doing, be it hot or cold, whether the car has run for an hour a day or five minutes, I can be happily testing the patience of the highway patrol when the car goes off boost usually at about 70 mph, then if the god of skoda is looking down on me I can turn off the ignition and back on and normal service is resumed, but then again some times no matter how many times I do this there is little or no boost and 70 becomes an unobtainable target unless a down hill section of road favours me.

any ideas folks ???

Welcome and good luck getting your issues addressed! :)

Hi and welcome aboard.

Sounds like the car is going into limp mode, when you're losing the power. Only way to find out what's wrong is to get it scanned.

Someone with VAG-COM can give you the 'full monty' of scans, but I recently bought a OBDII scanner from eBay for £20 and it's one of the best purchases I've made. Generic codes, but chances are you'll find out what is wrong, or get directed into the right ball park.

Many thanks for the input, a lot of people seem to be suffering from clogged arteries, sorry sticky veins, no no I'll get there in a minute, variable vane issues, :)

I have read peeps having problems revving over 3k which equates to about 70 off boost, my car seems to rev passed this down hills to the point it sounds like it's over revving but not under load, I'm thinking that this might be a multiple issue, female, good when it's good but a right bloody pain when it's not.

I think I might try the obd2 route on eBay as it can't hurt, I do have a buddy that works for a diagnostic company so I'll give him a shout to take his work home.

I'll post my findings as it may help others in the same predicament.

Much gratis
