parked my car up earlier. . everything fine all working fine,just come to use it and it won't engage in reverse,and the gear lever feels sloppy,what looks like reverse on the stalk is just first gear. :-$ . .

my dad pushed down on the linkage in the engine bay as i pushed it into reversed and it worked,he says it looked like it wasn't pushing the linkage down enough. . :-(

obv i can't use the car while its like this. . anyone any ideas on what could be wrong with it?. .

any advice please.

Evening, I would check the adjustment of the cables. The routine is in the Haynes manual.

thanks for the quick replys :-) . . after much swearing and cutting my hands to bits on the plastics of the air box its working fine again. . .lost all selection at one point n thought id be doomed but rescued it :-D

only 56.5k so not alot i don't think. was outta the blue aswell so ill keep an eye on it.

...I managed to buy 2 Skuds in succession with the same need to re-adjust the selector cables with the previous owner thinking it'd be an expensive box replacement and both times managed to back the car off of their drives with the V5 transfer slip in my hand lol!

might take you up on that soon man,its all working good again now but might be usefull to know for if its needed in future. :-)
