Having come from a 59 plate Cupra to my vRS, I am wondering if it is possible to change the exhaust tips in order to make a louder noise, much like my previous car?

Changing tips won't make a difference. Changing or removing your back box would be the cheapest option. My mate has a Cupra running Revo stage 1 and it is seriously fast.

take out the centre silencer in the exhaust and do the pre cat delete if you want a bit more noise.

I've been looking for standard exhaust tips (just for rejuvenating the look), but not come across many options. If it's noise your after, there might be something out there but probably tricky to find. The Superskoda site do a few bits and pieces.

Then again...do you really want it noisy? Sometimes the 'quiet' element of the Octavia RS is the best bit

A new back-box would give noise, but not much performance gains. If your after performance, a full turbo back system with decat / sports cat would be an option, but probably over £1,000.

If all else fails...drill a hole in it, rock 'n roll!!!

The amusing thing is that after a certain size depending on the engine in the car, larger exhaust/s make the car LOSE performance cos of the low pressure turbulence blocking the route of the flow. The gases don't escape cleanly and circulate within it and effectively choke the engine to a degree.

You try to tell these tw@ts that though!

Miltek cat back would probably be the best way forward; they make probably the best aftermarket exhaust systems for VAG cars.

I think they even do a non resonating version so will sound beefier than stock but without the drone you can often get from modified exhausts when cruising.
