Fabia VRS query

Featured Replies

Evening all. Just bought an 05 registered Fabia VRS. I won't go on about the engine, you all know about that. Suffice to say I'm impressed so far.

However, I do have a question to ask those of you who drive them regularly. When accelerating I get a bit of a tug through the steering, not booting it, just normally accelerating. It is even more obvious if you accelerate around right handers, it briefly unsettles the car. For what it's worth it's fine on left handers.

Doesn't make any difference turning on the assistance stuff ( incidentally, do you lot have that on or off generally ?).

Cheers for any help, Andy.

Does that happen at low rpm, like when you're in 2nd and take a slow corner doing just around 7-8mph??

More noticeable at higher speeds to be honest. Accelerating early out of a medium to fast right handler gives the car a very noticeable tug. Even in a straight line down a motorway it,ll veer a tiny bit through the steering when you blip the throttle.

Is it like a delay in the boost?

Console bushes worn I'd guess.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Not a boost delay. What's the console thing ? Just been looking through the previous MOT's, last years one flags up " front (both) suspension arm has slight plai in a pin/bush". And the most recent one " offside front suspension has slight movement at a wishbone pin or bush".

Thats the console bushes then.

Well, there you go. Turns out it was the near side wishbone. It collapsed as I was driving down a fast A road today. All pretty hairy but I managed not to hit anything, brushed along a hedge at high speed and missed a couple road signs by millimetres ! Car's with the garage at the moment but a quick look would seem to indicate that a bolt had worked loose or something.
