New Octavia Driver - Looking for advice on New Sat Nav

Hi all,

I have recently purchased a Skoda Octavia 1.9 Elegance estate (05 plate) and I'm looking for some help deciding on a new sat nav. I have browsed a fair few threads on here looking at what's involved in swapping out my unit. I like the look of the Columbus unit but have read that their are battery drainage issues.

My questions are as follows, can these drainage issues be negated? If so is it a lot of work installing the unit? Also will I need an adapter for the older Canbus?

And I suppose finally, would it be easier to go with an aftermarket unit and does anyone have any suggestions for one sub £500?
