P0727 fault code

Featured Replies

Hi,

The last couple of months I've experienced some trouble with my 2005 Octavia 1.9 TDI.

The engine will suddenly cut-out and then re-start whilst the car is in motion. It sort of misses a beat or several. This usually lasts for no more than a second and is accompanied by the rev counter indicator moving back to the zero stop and then recovering when the engine re-starts. I have no problems starting the engine cold, but it can be hard to get started when its hot.

Sometimes there is a fault code, sometimes it isnt (Glowplug symbol blinking when there is a code). I have used a fault code reader, and the fault code is P0727.

I took the car to a local shop. They changed the crankshaft position sensor, but that didnt solve the problem. They could not read the fault code, because the faultcode will only show up occasionally.

They suggested to take the car to a original Skoda dealer, and let them have a look at it.

But since the Skoda dealer is extremely expensive in Norway, I want to have a look at it myself first.

I suspect there is a problem with the wiring. Because the engine will cut-out for only 0,5-1 sec and the sensor have already been replaced.

But I do not have any clue where the sensor is located, and where the wires are routed.

Does anyone have a picture of where the crankshaft position sensor is located? Any tips is greatly appreciated!

And please excuse my bad english.. Im from Norway :P

Bump. Any tips?

The problem is getting worse. Car is almost impossible to drive now.

The crank position sensor is next to the oil filter housing on the right. 3 wires going to it and connects to a separate plug. Check out all of the wiring as far back as you can. Have seen the wires get rubbed through around the gearbox area.
