Octavia 2013...Elegance Heater Issues

More issues with my 2013 Elegance.  The last issues of the steering seemed to clear itself after being on the diagnostic machine when all errors were cleared. Can the same happen here?  Problem is the heater. Blows hot air with switch lit up to the full amount of notches. Then it just slowly dies away to nothing. Lit notches still visible on the switch. I notice if I touch the switch the lights just go out, no dropping down to less amount of lit notches, just all gone. Touch again and back they come....it's as if there is no control on the switch  settings...Hope this is making sense. Plenty heat when switch lit up but zilch when it's out. Was told the heater fan is goosed  as it was making a noise, which is gone, then someone said resistor is faulty, then someone said the switch.....aarrrrggghhhhhhhh

 

Any help at all would be appreciated. Will the fault show up on diagnostic ( VCDS) ????
