Needs some help here,

Does anyone in the "know" has access to information regarding the programming of the dashpod fuel gauge in a 2005 fabia vrs.

I recently installed a maxidot display and everything works brill apart from the fuel gauge reads empty when full and full when empty :tired: and the speedo constant is out. at 70mph on the gps the tacho only reads 60mph :confused:

Now I have registored vag com and have done the fuel gauge adjustment, ie emptied the tank, put 6l of fuel in, then done the adaption of channel 30 to 00128 to addjust the needle............ this didnt work, its only a fine adjustement of the needle, as in it still reads full when empty and empty when full :confused:

Any help is much apprieciated

Sorry to say I haven't got the slightest idea. It is problems like yours that give me mixed feelings towards fancy electronic gadgets - lovely when they work but when not they leave you dumbfolded.

But it's a good reason starting to look for that Felly diesel, no such problems with those!

Sorry to say I haven't got the slightest idea. It is problems like yours that give me mixed feelings towards fancy electronic gadgets - lovely when they work but when not they leave you dumbfolded.

But it's a good reason starting to look for that Felly diesel, no such problems with those!

that car was in my watch list on ebay But didnt want to mention it as someone else might have taken a fancy to it

Been watching hoping someone might have a good suggestion to help you mate.

What follows is just what I can remember from a lonmg whiles back:

Had a similar problem years ago in swapping out a mechanical for an elecrtric fuel pump...

Seems the fuel tank sender signal is either reversed or incorrectely wired up. It's a variable resistance that varies according to the fuel level.

Some senders increase and other decrease resistance. Some US ones (?)have 3 wires so it's possible to swap which way it works....

Dunno about a safe fix - but if it was me- check the untouched (!) fuel sensor side - may need to change the wires around - ask the dealer first...

Your speed may be adjustable by vagcom - or perhaps a specialist in gauges - who does the police skodas?

Alternatively - jaycar electronics in Oz does an adjustable circuit board that will allow you to adjust your displayed speed to your heart's content...

Dealer doesnt have a clue unfortunatley and said it must be a faulty dash pod

I have some info on the speedo constants (thanks stu) but What i really need is a car that has oem sat nav and owner with vag-com to read the soft coding off.

Just been on the jaycar electronics website, bloody hell they do some nice stuff. I dont even understand what half of it is

The Guy who's changing the odometer reading fro me has said he might be able to look into the speedometer error, but as of yet I havent got round to visiting him yet. Car still shows 18k Not bad for a 4 year old car .

On the swapping wires round, going into the fuel sender there are 4 wires.

1. 20amp ish size red coloured cable +ve 12v switched
   
2. 20amp ish size brown cable -ve Ground
   
3. 5 amp ish size purple with black trace wire
   
4. 5 amp ish size green with white trace wire

There is no voltage accross the two smaller wires but the resistance accross the two is always the same as displayed in vag com measuring blocks for controller 17. The resistance the other week with half a tank of fuel was 40ohms.

Surley if i swap these over it will still be the same resistance but reversed :confused:

Will keep updating this thread for future people wishing to fit maxidot.......... In the meantime Wardy get your *** in gear and fit yours, see if you have the same problem :rofl::rofl:
