Does any body know what the current list price is for a VRS estate? The finance on it is almost up and want to sell it before that happens. However what ive been offered has near enough affended me, i was only offered £8,500. Now ive seen ones of a simular age and milage going for between £11k and £13k.

Do you check your power steering fluid
mystic_monkeyman replied to fabia55's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
It shouldn't as I'm pretty sure it's electric. But then I could be wrong. -
Although I'm looking at getting rid of my VRS estate soon. I would jump at the chance of a 150ish tdi with a manual 'box in estate form. Start/stop for 65+ mpg and almost nil road tax and it would still be good for the traffic light gran prix. Along with all the usual high spec gagetry that should of been standard on the mk2. What about an option (or standard fit) of magnetic shocks, a nice smoothish ride when just commuting and at the touch of a button a rock solid ride to make the purists smile?

Issues with leather steering wheel
mystic_monkeyman replied to mystic_monkeyman's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
I've just noticed that it's also the gear leaver causing problems to as a rest my hand on it would need to change both steering wheel and gear shifter. Do skoda actually do a non leather multifunction steering wheel with paddles that's not in leather? I wouldn't get the wheel retrimed as it could affect the warranty and the car is on finance, so skoda could get funny about it. And after all the trouble I've had with them the last thing I need is the warranty being invalidated. -
Issues with leather steering wheel
mystic_monkeyman replied to mystic_monkeyman's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
I'm not sure if it's leather in general or a chenical used to treat it, as I'm not a big fan of leather (interias/ furniture) and only have leather shoes and a fake leather belt. -
As the title says, after many years with what a believed to be a very serious case of eczema on my hands a recent trip to the docs reveals that it is actually contact dermatitis. After a long hard look at what could have caused it, I believe it started with the first car a bought that had a leather steering wheel. Cut a long boring story short I bought some crappy cycling gloves to wear while driving my car and it has seamed to cure the problem after a couple days. Now I want to get some proper gloves designed for driving/racing, has anybody got any good recommendations for some gloves that are not made of leather, as I don't want to put a stupid looking cover on the steering wheel. Thanks.

As the title explains, my other half's mk1 needs lots of bits of the suspension. It needs a new anti roll bar and bushes. (apparently the last person to replace the bushes didn't replace the metal jacket they sit in and now they have rotten away again and knackered the anti roll bar!!) It also needs rear console bushes and bump stops. All relatively (easy) stuff for me to replace but I do have 1 question. Does the VRS have stiffer bushes and/or thicker anti roll bar, or are those components standard across the range? The car is the 1.4 twin cam 100hp. Any help would be greatly welcomed.

Urgent help needed!

Sorry. It's my wife's car. A 2000 elegance hatchback. And it's the unit that does the locking, alarm and the like. -

I'm looking at changing this unit later today and want to know weather it's just a plug and play or if it needs reprogramming and if so how can I do this? And am right in thinking it's down to the left if the of the steering wheel? Quick response would be helpful as I'm looking at the car later today.

Just bought a 1.4 Dohc.
mystic_monkeyman replied to mystic_monkeyman's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
The previous owner said it just stopped a while ago but they just used the keys to unlock it. Yes it's flip keys and I can't say I even noticed a red light on either of then. Will try in a second to look at the keys. What type of battery do they use? -

Will changing to Central locking control unit stop the alarm from constantly going off and get the remote keys working again??? Going to pull off bits of the cam cover to check the state of the belt. What are the differences between an old belt and a new one? Vision and feel. -
As the topic says just bought a fabia 101ps 1.4 for my misses as her 1st car. It's a 2000 with 70,000 miles on the clock so it's not without a couple issues. Although it has a full service history there is no evidence of the cam belts being done and it's 10 thousand miles over due. Is it an easy job or should I take it to a garage, and any ideas how long the belts could last for? (It's an old mans car that's been garaged since he died). Secondly the central doesn't work from either of the key fobs but is fine from the lock it's self but it does set the alarm of occasionally. Any ideas how to rectify this problem??? And one last thing. I have a mk 2 VRS estate and am really thinking about getting rid of it. How easy is it to swap the brakes over to this mk1. Many thanks if anybody can help with me inquires.

Rear end creaking
mystic_monkeyman replied to pistolpete559's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Just got back from the dealers and after much head scratching and swearing, the master technician has decided even after greasing all the bushes that the control bushes under the springs will need to be replaced. Will report back after they have been replaced.
