  1. It was 4years/100,000 & it'll be going back 6 months early due to mileage. If it wasn't for the risk of the same noise again, I'd have gotten another. I only had the Fabia for a day or two but economy was comparable with the Octavia as far as I recall.
  2. I feel your pain guitarman001 :-( The end of my lease is nearly up & I wont be getting another Octavia. It's a shame as it's a lot of car for the money but for me, it's not worth taking the chance, even though there's been a facelift. I initially had test drove the estate version which had the same noise issue but I (incorrectly) assumed that it was because the boot was empty & proceeded with my order. However as soon as my hatchback was delivered I noticed the noise & started my doomed quest to find a solution. I had a Fabia as courtesy car & was impressed with the level of finish & the significantly lower cabin noise! Would definitely consider one for my if my wife changes her car. If you can afford to take the hit I'd get rid of it but I know that's easier said than done, it's four years down the road & there's no definitive cause or solution other than drive with the tailgate open! Good luck! Cheers, Paul
  3. Thanks Watsy, turned out to be a TX45.Noted that if I fixed the latch straight the tailgate would be higher on one side when shut, so I've left it not straight. Tailgate now closes nicely under its own weight. Will see how things go over the next few days :-) Cheers, Paul Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk
  4. Hey all Does anyone know off-hand the torx size of the screws that retain the boot latch? The biggest I have is T30 which was too small so will need to go shopping :-) Cheers, Paul
  5. Hey WatsyHope it stays fixed! [emoji2] When you say you moved the latch back, do you mean towards the rear of the car? Or towards the front when viewed looking into the boot? Cheers, Paul Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk
  6. Hey Shawthing, can't tell from the piccy exactly where those bump stops are located, I had the sprung loaded ones that are fitted on the sides of the hatchback, which made no differnce. Cheers, Paul
  7. I had the sprung loaded buffers fitted to my hatchback last week as a remedy for the air pressure/booming issue... no affect :-( At least it wont rust! :-D They mentioned that the boot latch would be next on their list. Cheers, Paul
  8. Thanks for feeding this back Skoda_Doug. I had the boot seal replaced on my hatch a couple of months ago & although it initially did make a difference, the "booming" soon returned :-( It's booked in for three days at the end of the month for more investigation, hopefully the recall covers my vehicle but my dealer was unaware of any recalls so I don't hold out much hope. Cheers, Paul
  9. Hey all Good news for me with my hatchback! Having been able to demonstrate the nausea inducing noise coming from the rear of my car to a technician from my local dealership on a concrete road on a nearby industrial estate, it was booked in last Monday for two days investigation. I had little hope of anything being achieved, however SUK instructed the them to replace the boot seal & I must admit the difference has been amazing! I wanted to give it a couple of days to be sure before reporting but it's now no worse than my MK6 Golf before & only when going over poorest of surfaces. Hopefully this solution might also work for some of the other Octavia's here :-) Cheers, Paul
  10. That response is disappointing/frustrating to hear, did they not accept there was an issue? Cheers, Paul
  11. If only it was in my case. I've had the parcel shelf in/out, the rear seats up/down in different combinations without any significant difference. Thanks for the suggestion. Cheers, Paul
  12. Hi all Unfortunately this adjustment didn't work for me either :-( Bearing this in mind though, I found that if I close the hatchback gently, so that it's on the latch & wont open, but not proerly closed, all booming noise is gone! Makes a hell of a difference when driving! Hard to know if the hatchback is actually the cause of the problem, or just a symptom. Would be interested to know if others find the same thing. Cheers, Paul
