  1. It looks like there is a new version available on the official portal this week - https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/ I just did a successful update to my 2016 Superb (Columbus) 😀
  2. Thanks for that comprehensive description of how PKI works - I suspected things were pretty locked downL, and you have confirmed my suspicion. I will see if I can find a local Indy with VCDS.
  3. Thanks, I did wonder about all those checksums. Looks like I need to find someone local to Ipswich witch VCDS to do the tweaks. I have a couple of indys I can try.
  4. Hi, Having prodded around in the JSON files, and NOT having VCDS to be able to make the tweaks myself, I am wondering if there could be another option, which is to relabel the block of text in paytmc.json (i.e. flip the values 32782 / 32783), so that the maps are updated to contain the new data rather than the pointers configured from VCDS. Likewise with the 14/15 which seem to be defined in paytmc_s0to15.json. Is this likely to work, or is there some inherent meaning in the values which I've not spotted ? I'm assuming I could edit the ISO file and reload the maps file (I've just updated maps, so not sure I can do that even). Alan.
  5. Just had the same thing on my 2016 Mk III Superb, with the aid of the pics and the tent peg tool (now living in my glovebox!) to pull the plastic locking clip out, it was sorted. You need to be careful when putting the door handle back that you engage the mechanism inside the door, the first time I slid it in, it did not engage and was not going to open anything despite the handle moving freely. Another go, keeping the handle closer to the door, and it engaged properly. You can check it (Carefully!) before putting back the fixed part at the back of the handle. Many thanks to the contributors who worked this out ! Alan.
  6. An update on this. After hearing nothing more back from them, I dropped an escalation into their customer service section yesterday (https://www.marriottmotorgroup.co.uk/customer-services/ - "We stride ourselves to deliver an unparalleled customer service and we really like to hear about your positive feedback.". <Stride ???> ) which I suspect was what triggered a new offer to honour the online pricing (for "Oil and inspection" and "DSG oil change" and the original brake price quote. Yes, I know I'm paying over the odds for main dealer servicing, but that will change next year once it's out of the 5 year extended warranty. Going further afield was not really an option, 'cos nobody seems to be offering courtesy cars at the moment because of Covid.
  7. This really is an easy DIY job. I did mine at 4 years - about £15 for the filter from 'tinternet, and 10 mins. On the Superb, you need to slip the glovebox out, then it's right in front of you (I think there's a thread on the forum here somewhere). What I found surprised me, the filter that was "replaced" by the main dealer in 2018 was dated 2016... so either some very old stock on the shelf, or the work was not actually done. As I only discovered it 2 years later, it was too late to do anything about it.
  8. They wanted £230 for the Oil and inspection service, and £230 for the DSG change. They quoted £210 for the rear brakes at the MOT in March, but didn't have the parts, so I delayed until the service was due. Now quoting me £379 - for doing the fronts, even though I asked them do quote for the rears!
  9. Thanks for the Ipswich link - my local dealer. I have just been quoted (by them) way more than standard pricing for Oil & Inspection + DSG oil change, plus a rear disc and pad replacement at nearly £400. It doesn't help that their phone system is broken, so won't take incoming calls ! Let's hope they come back with something which reflects the pricing they advertise, otherwise trading standards are going to be getting a call ! I don't mind paying the dealer rate, as I'm in the 5 year extended warranty, but they should honour the prices they quote on the site.
