  1. My satnav usually goes haywire when sos system fails. I have read elsewhere that for reasons I cannot understand the same applies when using CarPlay navigation options. This suggests an infotainment system problem rather than an independent iphone/android related problem. I have had an occasion when my sos system failed but satnav was ok.
  2. My rear discs just the same at 3 years/ 11000 miles - had an advisory about them at 2 years service so expected it. I had car serviced (and discs/pads changed) immediately before mot to avoid failure. I am a very light footed driver using brakes very rarely and my independent brilliant mechanic said use them or lose them. He said that my discs would rust/wear less if I applied some heavier braking more often. Exactly the same scenario on my previous two Yetis.
  3. All I can say is that my 1.0l dsg Kamiq bears absolutely no resemblance to the performance characteristics you mention. Very quick off the mark - much more so than when I drove my 140bhp manual Yeti. Never used the S mode and dsg infinitely slicker than me using the manual mode. Also easily kicks down to lower gears with no persuasion. I find the engine gearbox combination a perfect match and faultless in performance.
  4. On mine I just have to press and hold one of the menu options on the multifunction screen and the dark screen with clock appears and remains there.
  5. I also wondered about location specific. It has only happened to me twice and both times at exactly the same place when entering the car park at Beetham garden centre North lancs. On both occasions cleared when starting car back at home the following day
  6. Like you I now set my cruise control at 65 mph on motorways and this gives excellent fuel consumption similar to quoted above. On my recent long trip up into Scotland I calculated my long journey would only take 7 minutes more than at 70mph - so what ! I also discovered further advantages. It is fast enough to comfortably overtake lorries and rather than bunching with everybody else set on 70mph as I used to do, those vehicles cleanly overtake. A much less stressful and more economic way of travel.
  7. Not original Skoda rims but purchased from :- https://www.wheelbasealloys.com their full technical description copied from my receipt :- 6x16 5x100 ET35 Platin P 95 (VEC 606 V7) (Silber) (Lackiert) (57.1cb) (530kg Load) (H2) (PL They supplied them with tyres fitted
  8. I did that (16 inch with Cross Climate 2 tyres) as soon as I acquired my Kamiq SEL in April this year. Didn’t run it long enough on original 18 inch wheels to make any proper comparison but what I have got feels excellent re noise and comfort. I chose alloys similar pattern to original. Will be interested to hear your comparison.
  9. I set mine up perfectly via Carista app. Don’t have off road button but must have a tilt sensor as it all works ok.
  10. Like you I don’t do enough long journeys any more and I keep a close eye as to when regeneration takes place and succeed almost 100% in extending a journey until regeneration is complete. Other than keeping driving I don’t use any particular high revving while waiting for regeneration to complete. My most valuable tool is an old android smartphone with the vag app installed and a Bluetooth adaptor permanently attached to the car diagnostic socket. I check the state of the DPF frequently which enables me to fairly accurately predict a regeneration so I am more prepared for it but more valuable are the many readings on the app which show that the DPF is still in good health despite the predominance of short journeys. Without my success in completing regeneration each time and the readout from that app I might not have the confidence in the health of my diesel with its short journeys.
  11. Had my haldex serviced by knowledgeable independent who knew to take off pump unit, remove and clean filter. Car 3 years old and 20000 miles. Oil very dirty and filter badly clogged. Easy job though oil very expensive and he suggested not to leave it more than15000 miles before next service. He has seen a lot of this on newest haldex units on all makes of vehicles.
  12. Just had my Yeti serviced today. 3 years old with 20600 miles. Took it to very local very wiz independent mechanic with whom I had discussed the haldex 5 gen problems mentioned on this forum. He had already seen this problem in many haldex 5 units - not all on VAG cars. He reported that mine was severely sludged with small (inadequate) filter on the pump considerably restricted. All now cleaned up. Thank goodness we agreed to service the Haldex unit at this stage. Local Skoda agent kindly rang me last week to remind me about MOT and brake fluid change being now due. I mentioned the haldex and he had no idea one way or the other. Off topic, the rear brake disks required renewing - totally worn/ rusted on the inner faces. Brake pads and callipers ok.
  13. My main dealer has been pestering me to book the car in for a brake fluid change and MOT when it is 3 years old next month. It is on variable service and not due for any other action as far as he is concerned so credit to him for reminding me. I told him that I had already booked it in to my local mechanic across the road from my house and that as well as the two items they mentioned it would be having the gen5 haldex oil changed including removing its pump, cleaning it and the filter therein. Though my local independent guy was fully aware of all these gen5 haldex requirements and potential problems the Skoda dealer expressed surprise and ignorance of that requirement. Having everything else serviced as well as a pre end of warranty checkup. Thereafter a good new post warranty start of service with my local wizard independent guy.
  14. Just got my Cross Climates and they certainly do have 7mm tread
