About Me

I have always been interested in cars. First car was a 1200 beetle and ever since have owned VWs. Love all things german. Disappointed Michael Schumacher has now retired. Motor racing fan Member at Castle Combe. Ride a Kawasaki.

I bought my first Octavia SDi saloon in 2001 and then 2 further Octavia Tdi estates.
Now run a VRS estate CR with DSG which is truly fab.

The Briskoda site is fab and keeps me happy for hours on end. I enjoy other people's enthusiasm for their cars.

British Superkarts.

On Monday I Went to Castle Combe for my usual Motorsport indulgence. It is a great place, superb atmosphere and good racing.

British Superkarts were included on the racing menu this week. It was he first time I'd seen them.
Nothing more to say other than they were absolutely fantastic. 130mph top speed, but cornering at 100 plus. Stunning racing 'on the edge'. Absolutely superb.

Registration Plate Change

Can anyone help me out here please to see if I understand what needs to be done?

My current car has a personalised plate that I want to take with me to my next car. The plate was put on my car at first delivery, so the car never had another plate. Car first registered January 2011.(ie it would have been a 60 plate).

I understand I can pay to keep my personal number plate on retention. I just need to get hold of a 60 plate so I can sell the car.

My question is this:
Do I have to buy a 60 plate (they seem to be £399), or will DVLA issue me with a plate on request (possibly with £80 charge for first registration?)

I am going to buy a new Octavia. In view of the serious savings on offer, I am seriously considering using the above online supplier instead of my local dealer

Has anyone used them and have any experiences they may wish to share?. I don't want to make an expensive mistake!
