  1. Hi, Sorry to reopen this topic but here goes.... Ended up changing the whole egr valve and that solved that problem. Engine light stayed off for quite a while even though I never got around to doing the temperature sensors. Now have some more faults. You can clear the lights and they come back within about 150-250 miles. 17441 nox sensor g295 signal too low p1033 17443 nox sensor g295 not a plausable signal p1035 16502 coolant temp sensor g62 signal too high ok, temp fault, change the sensors, ill order some. hopefully solved. nox sensor. Can 'i get away with just changing the sensor (03c906261) or do i need to change the control box (03c906263) also as I have been googling and it says that some models they have to be paired? Will be selling the polo within the next 4 months, so don't want to spend a fortune but I also don't want to sell a car with hidden know issues. Im not that dishonest to only turn the lights out. Thanks Dave ps. The VRS LE is still going strong (touch wood) and its much for fun to drive :-)
  2. Ok thanks, Ill order some. VW wanted £32 +vat each and they are on ebay at £12 free p&p so Ill try those. Had a better look at the erg valve this arvo, Took the top off with the gears in and the plastic gear has partially stripped. The valve opens and closes freely with just the resistance of the spring.
  3. Hi, Have a vrs se so use this site normally, I also have a 2003 polo which is similar to the fabia and I believe the 1.4 fsi engine in my polo is the same as the one in my dads 1.4 fabia, so hopefully i don't upset anyone by posting this in here I have a VW Polo 2003 1.4 FSI petrol at approx. 120K Yesterday the engine warning light came on and I checked the faults today. P0118 COOLANT TEMP SENSOR G62 SIGNAL TOO HIGH INTERMITTENT P1403 EGR SYSTEM LIMIT VALVE DIFFERENT I cleared the faults, the light went off although the temp fault is still present and the erg valve is still whirring (see below). Driven the car around, no engine light back on as of yet. There appears to be two, two pin temp sensors. One in the bottom of the rad and one on the side of the engine near the erg valve. Since I have owned the car, 2012, the rad fan has intermittently run even when the engine is stone cold, so am I correct the rad sensor is the sensor to be looking at first? The temp gauge within the car has always worked correctly. Had a look around the erg valve. All the pipe works looks ok, although I noticed even though the fault was cleared, that with the ignition on but engine off, the erg valve solenoid is constantly working (whirring). Would taking the erg valve off and cleaning it out, help anything or has it gone wrong electronically / internally? Thanks Dave
  4. That is exactly what i do when the ice is about and they are normally parked next to each other. I watched the video but there appears to be no sound? Ill have another search on youtube and see what i can find.
  5. Hello I have a 2007 vrs le and a 2003 polo. I have recently noticed that my spare vrs key also unlocks the polo on the remote. The main vrs remote only unlocks the vrs and both polo remote only open the polo. When I first got the polo second hand it only had one key which i bought another second hand remote and programed it via a procedure of locking and unlocking etc. I found on youtube. The only thing i can think was the spare vrs key was within range and has maybe picked this up? Has the vrs spare key got both the code for the vrs and polo OR does the polo have the code for the vrs spare key? What do i need to do to stop this? Thanks Dave
  6. Still not got to the bottom of this. I'm wary of adjusting the pot on the back of the pedal as the high idle is intermitant. I have read on google other pd engines have suffered the same problem with a faulty coolant sensor? People's opinions?
  7. Sorry, which vrs website? Thanks for the other ideas also.
  8. Hello, I have a vrs le 2007 with approx 65k on the clock. The car has always been regularly serviced and it had some major work done (turbo, cooler, rebuilt heads etc.) at Skoda when the turbo went under warranty at 40k. I seem to remember the normal idle for my vrs was around 800-900rpm, correct? Lets assume it is. I have noticed a couple of months after the last service which included, fuel filter and changing the EGR valve gasket to a 9mm the engine when starting from cold would rev at approx 1200rpm until you blipped the throttle pedal which would drop the revs back to the normal 900rpm. I do not think this was fault was cause of the filter/gasket. 9 months down the line and almost every time you start the engine the revs are at 1200rpm until the throttle pedal is touched and it only seems to drop to 1000rpm. The fault now even exists when the engine is hot on start up and also seen intermittently when stopping at traffic lights etc. from higher driving revs. The idle now seems to be more around the 1000 mark than 8-900. There is no warning lights present on the dash. I assume this is the start of a sticking throttle body but before I pull it apart to clean it I though I would ask here to see if there is anything else I should look at while doing the throttle body. Thanks Dave
  9. Hello, I have a le vrs fabia so use this site for help. I also have a 2003 polo, which is a fabia in discise so hopefully i can post this question on here as the parts concerned I would imagine are used on the fabia, cupra, leon etc. I found after some searching the common fault for the lights not beeping when you turn the engine off and open the door, and the interior light not coming on when you open the door is the micro switch on the lock module. I have taken the door lock module out. The micro switch goes open and close circuit as you would imaging it would do as the door latch is moved. I checked this with the resistance beeper on a multi meter and pushing through the wire with a thin pin. I don't think it can be the microswitch. Is it possible to be the electronic box within the module? Or any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Interior light works otherwise so can't imagine its a fuse. Any ideas before buying another module and hoping? Don't really want to leave the lights on and get out!!! Thanks Dave
  10. Hello, I use this forum for my VRS fabia but have just bought a Polo for her to drive. Can anyone recommend a good vw forum for future answers to and problems i might encounter Thanks Dave

  14. hiya, ok, i have a blue vrs le. i would like to add ipod control to my car but have had unsuccesful results when i fitted the xcarlink kit. (bad sound quality) i dont really want to loose the cd changer under the seat but would like the ipod in the glove box and controlled from the head unit i have been thinking about changing the head unit but im not sure which stereos will work with the skoda cd changer. this is simular to the unit in my girlfreinds car which the ipod control works well but would this work with the cd changer http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sony-Xplod-CDX-GT50W-iPod-iPhone-USB-CD-MP3car-stereo-/290522467130?pt=UK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP&hash=item43a47d0b3a Is does say controller - cd changer? If it does not work is there a list of units that will work with the cd changer? What items am i likerly to need when changing the unit other that the trim for the smaller stereo's (Fabia Dashboard Radio Surround 6Y0 857 231 B41 Satin Black) Will i need a lead to adapt the cd changer lead to other units? Thanks for your help, audio is not my think and im lost
