  1. Not sure if I've just never noticed it before but the isofix loops are clearly visable on the front passanger seat. Are they on other people's SII's or has something mysterious happened to my seat?
  2. I was actually hoping that they would write it off but I'm not sure that I can demand a new car, can I? As far as I was aware it is up to the insurance company to decide if it is a financial w/o? The body shop said that it was classed as medium impact though looking at the list of new body panals it is having (which include a new boot floor) I think I am basically getting a new back half of the car.
  3. I believe that the repairer is pretty good though it didn't start off that way. My insurance company said that the vehicle should be taken to Nationwide accident repair. Nationwide left it for about 2 weeks whilst they worked out how to get in to the boot and then started removing parts that they didn't need to remove. Nationwide then said that repairs were about to commence and that it would be back in a week. Insurance guy at work was never happy that it was there and asked me to call Skoda re the warranty. Skoda said that unless the repairs were carried out at an approved VW body shop then any panals replaced (I was obviously concerned about the twin door) would not be covered under warranty. The dealership where I got the car from gave me details of their approved body shop and inside 2 hours the car had been removed from Nationwide to Summers body shop in Biddenden. They produced a 7 page repiar list and an estimated 3 week repair time, they have so far been excellent but I'll see next week exactly how good they have been. I don't even want to think what kind of work Nationwide were expecting to do in a week that the Skoda approved people said will take 3. Moral of the story; don't accept the location where your insurance company says the car should be taken to, insist it goes back to the dealer where you got it from.
  4. Insurance company gave me a replacement car which in their eyes was a 'like for like' replacement. What ever way you look at it a 1.8 base spec focus is not the same as a 1.8 Elegance. Evidently 'like for like' goes on engine size. The hire car bill will be nearly £4k so it has turned out quite expensive for the 3rd party insurance company. I was quite calm after the event (she was too ugly to ge given a slap)
  5. Attached picture shows what £7k worth of damage to a 1 month old Elegance looks like. Been without it for 2 months now and hopefully get it back next week. I have a feeling though that it will never be the same again. Other picture shows what happens to a Suzuki Swift that rear ends you at 30mph.
  6. As I didn't want to wait 12 weeks for another car I didn't really feel like I was left with much choice but to accept the vehicle. Maybe the British in me took over and I should have kicked off more over it
  7. Got a call from my dealer yesterday to say that car had been delivered and now just needs to go through PDI etc before collection. I could tell from his voice that there was going to be a 'but' and sure enough there was. The car was ordered in black with ivory leather and black carpets (I've seen the order form to confirm this). For some reason the guys on the assembly line probably didn't think that this was a good combo so fitted the ivory carpets instead. Whilst they were at it they also thought that just the side window blinds were not enough so stuck one the rear window one as well. Apart from rejecting the car there is not really much I could do. I did not really see this as the dealer's fault so didn't go for any financial adjustment (I'd already screwed him right down on the price) and to be fair they offered to scotch guard the carpets and fit black mats FOC. I'm a little (ok, quite a lot) annoyed that the interior look of the car is not what I was hoping for and with 2 small children know that light carpets are just going to get trashed. I am just at a loss to understand (and the dealer could provide no explanation) as to how on an automated ordering system this can happen. Anybody else had mistake made on their order? This is my first Skoda and so far they have not manufactured me a happy driver.
  8. I've got a 1.8 Elegance twin-door on order. Added met paint, sound system, space saver spare, rear sun blinds and auto dim rear view mirror. Got this discounted to £20,687. I just asked the dealer if he would match the Drive the Deal price and he did straight away. Ordered it just before Christmas and expecting delivery in 10 days.
  9. Well what would you know. A phone call to Skoda customer service who then phone the dealership, a disc will now be supplied with the car. Fair play to Skoda UK for sorting this out but I'm left with a somewhat sour taste that the dealer just lied to me.
  10. My Elegance is being delivered in mid March and yesterday I asked the dealer if the latest discs would be supplied with the vehicle. He said that the car would not be supplied with any discs they would just download the maps on to the hard drive during the PDI, he said that this was now Skoda policy. Is this now the case or is he just fobbing me off?
  11. In the end the order was as follows: Elegance 1.8 in Black Magic with Ivory leather and black carpets. Extras of upgraded sound system, auto dim rear view mirror, rear side window blinds and space saver spare wheel. All of this came to a family fortunes total of £20,686. Take delivery 1st weekend in April.
  12. Don't think silver works well with Ivory leather though
  13. I'm about to place an order for a 1.8 Elegance but am stuck on the colour. The interior is going to be ivory and my inclination is to go for Storm Blue. However I've never seen one in this colour in the flesh so my question is does the Superb suit this colour?? (I think it is quite a colour sensitive vehicle). The only other options for an ivory interior are black (2nd choice), Red (don't like) beige (pensioners colour) green (never) Many thanks
