  1. Hallyboy, thanks for the head up on that source for wheels. I had been looking in the UK and couldn't find anything with a reasonable price. Have yours turned up? Everything okay with them? Thanks Andy
  2. Thank you both. I always know I can get a quick and proper answer here. Am I allowed to sell my old wheels/tyres on here? Andy
  3. Hi I currently have a 2010 Octavia L&K 1.8Tsi with a set of steel rims for winter, they are 15". I have just ordered a VRS (well its been pre ordered by the dealer, so I should have it within 3 weeks). Looking at the VRS, I am pretty sure that there is no way my existing steels will fit, can someone confirm for me please? Thanks Andy
  4. I should imagine that's due to the low max speed of the greenline? slower the car, less force on the tyres under cornering etc? There are different specs for different models. Andy
  5. Well I have done a lot of research on this today. It would appear that under uk law,it is actually a requirement to fit tyres with a load rating equal to or greater than the OEM units when new. Never knew that. Andy
  6. Hi Sorry if this has been asked before, I did try a search but couldn't find the answer. I have searched ATS, Kwick Fit, Mytyres and Black Circles and they all suggest that I can put 91 load rating rather than 94 on my Superb s 1.8TSi. Can anyone confirm if this is correct please? I did take the max laden weight, and add 25% and it's within the figures. thanks Andy
  7. Hi What do people think about pavement parking? i.e. 2 wheels or more on the footpath. I went for a walk earlier, with pushchair and friend in wheelchair. Got to a point on the pavement where we had to turn around, find a dropped kerb and cross over. Now, dont get me wrong, there are roads where it makes sense for peopleto put 2 wheels on the pavement, but in the case we are talking about wide roads. Anyway, on the way back, I knocked the door and asked the owner if there was any way he could park on the road in future, the language was amazing :-0 I then asked him to come out so he could see for himself that neither the pushchair or the wheelchair could fit and he went off on one about what he would do if we scratched his car trying to get past and went back in his house.... My mate lost his legs in Iraq, so a little f* respect would be appreciated but this guy thought he had a right...... So, what do you guys and girls all think? A
  8. I have always been a little concerend about how rigid isofix systems are, having worked in the steel industry for many years, sometime flexing is a good thing. However, since last Friday when someone ran into the side of me, I was grateful to have the BeSafe Izi combi X3. Did it's job and littlen is all fine. 2 and half and on a trip to drayton manor today was telling us all about the bad man who crashed into her door and set of the airbags :-) B p.s. As for sideways movement, this would be rediculous, in a big impact with maybe 2 car seats and a young child in the middle they would be crushed....
  9. Oh and the 6k is inc VAT, most repairs are quoted ex VAT....
  10. No, Nottingham/Leicestershire border. It's on the A46 Leicester - Lincoln road. The Curtain, seat airbag and the labour for the head lining make up a substantial chunk of the cost.... B
  11. Thanks for all the well wishes, and you are all of course correct, it's just a lump of metal. I only have 4 years no claims so couldn't protect them, the thought of paying £2k a year again makes me feel sick, lets hope Direct Line fight my case for me. oh and I actually have 12 years no claims, but due to changing companies before getting my own car I was only able to transfer the 3 years at the last company on to my private policy. B
  12. I just found one distant photo on the highway agency road building website, should give people an idea
  13. I'm afraid Google maps doesn't show the new roundabout, it's only been there about 3 months as part of a major road widening project. It stays 2 lanes down to the next round about, so he can't use that excuse. Direct line have been a little useless to be honest, they said this evening that he may have admitted fault, but I still haven't even had a call from them to take proper details of the incident. B
