  1. Had a look over some new Superb's yesterday and have to say, overall, they are really very impressive cars. SE Business spec does seem to be the sweet spot of the range for max bang per buck. Personally, I prefer the alcantara seats over the higher trim level leather ones, prefer to have 17" alloys instead of the 18's on higher trim levels (on a car like this) but I'd miss the xenon headlamps. SE Business spec + xenons and Canton would probably be my ideal spec tbh.

  3. Id go with this view - only exception would be if you ran fully loaded the majority of the time... personally, i'm not convinced the smaller capacity blocks and blowers produce more efficient results than the bigger capacity units under these circumstances.
  4. but the Scout already has the same drivetrain; engine, gearbox and haldex setup. This is for someone that wants the sporty look of the VRS and not the utility look of the scout.
  5. I've driven the 280 in DSG form three times now and thought it was, overall, a superb hot hatch. The last one I drove however was the manual version and it really did make me feel like I was even more involved with what was going on - it peels back another layer of the experience, simply making it that little bit more fun and exciting. You need to weight up whether the gadgets or the manual interactivity are more important to you.

  7. Couldn't agree more but according to Skoda, there's no market demand for a TSi version of this car!!!
  8. Cayman S pads also sweep the entire depth of the disk area. 286mm x12 currently so very similar ratio to what I'm now changing it to (standard fronts were 288mm). The Yeti is the heaviest car in the vw group that gets that setup iirc and to feel the rears doing more (which is my aim) they need to be bigger/more powerful. It's the perfect match front to rear given the vehicle weight according to DaveB at Vagbremtech and there's not too much he doesn't know about brakes, especially when related to VW group vehicles.
  9. iirc I had the Porsche setup put on around 21 - 23,000 miles and im now on 50,000. The disks have a very slight lip but I generally change pads and disks together when using uprated pads anyway.
  10. Cant recall the name (in German) but it was mentioned on here - think the person posting bought then via their german ebay shop. A search should find it.
  11. yes, I understood what you were saying so just intrigued how they came about the remark of being 10-15% 'better' Even Bilstein told me the B4's were OE spec and no better and they did not recomend them for being combined with lowering springs in any application. Main reason being the additional stress placed on them and they had to work outside of their specification. I learnt years ago, buy once and buy it right. I always pick up my Bilstein and Eibach kit from Germany, think both my B12 kit and B6 dampers were 35-40% cheaper than the cheapest prices over here earlier this year.
  12. Be interested to know the source of the 10-15% better statement and how do they quantify 'better'? I did loads of research before I bought the B6 and B8 dampers, including many conversations with Bilstein UK technical. Dept (very knowledgeable indeed) If you ever see the B4 front unit and a B6/8 unit stripped down you'll see a night and day difference in constriction and engineering so I'd consider the additional cost, money well spent, especially if being used with lowering springs.
  13. What a great morning for a bit of brake refurbishment! In readiness for fitting next Saturday I thought I'd give the rear calipers some new seals and a quick rub down and re spray. Three light coats later (and yet to do the final lacquer coats) but the results are really good IMO. At least they won't look out of place alongside the Porsche Calipers on the front, which still look like new. So next Saturday's todo list: Fit new Brembo disks and DS2500 Cayman S pads to the front. Fit these Audi S3 rear calipers + Pagid 310mm disks and pads. Change the fluid for fresh ATE fluid
  14. I don't usually comment if it's not positive... But those decals really aren't doing it for me!!
