What is the service manager got to say on the matter, why the hold up?

Two weeks ago they said they needed to order the parts, gave me no ETA other than a week or two. Tomorrow will be week two. My argument is, as others have said water pumps aren't a rare part and surely it doesn't take two weeks to source one. I can get one online for next day delivery!

  2. Hi all, it's been a long time since I posted here and I'm running out of ideas and pulling my hair out.

    Settle yourselves in...

Jan 14th of this year, I thought I'd got myself a bargain, I bought a Octavia VRS 2016, white, estate. Absolutely loved it. It looked brand new, not a single mark on it. It had done what I thought was a reasonable 65k in that time. Full service history (part dealer, part third party.) it also had the water pump and timing belt changed. Nothing else I could find was even close to that level of service history, mileage etc.

Two weeks later, I saw the dreaded engine management light. It still drove absolutely fine on the way back home, but obviously not knowing what was wrong I stopped driving it. I'd only done about 240 miles in those two weeks if that.

Contacted the dealership (Perrys Barnsley) and told them, they were quick to help and got me to contact my local Perrys to get booked in. (TWO weeks later) so I was without a car for those two weeks as I didn't want to drive it with an unknown fault and cause more damage.

Got told the OBD codes were showing Glow Plug 2 and Water Pump and that they'd need to order those parts from Skoda.

I had to fight for a courtesy car, which I could only keep over the weekend. This went back last Monday.

Here I am with no car, they will have had it now two weeks tomorrow. No update, no nothing. I keep trying with Perrys Barnsley about what's going on but I am not really getting much back.

I checked my documents for the car and can see the waterpump was replaced at 57k miles in March 2022. Absolutely no way it's gone already surely? And even if it had it can't take two weeks to source a water pump? (bear in mind, there is a Skoda garage literally next door to my local Perrys).

What is your take on this?

  3. Dear God. If it helps I know a guy in Mansfield who might be able to help. My other half who I met as a uni student, who had a somewhat lacking sense of smell has a clapped out Corsa that he doubled up as a waste disposal unit. The smell got so bad that I could only describe it as rotting flesh, it actually made me heave. I took it to Jon from Finishing Touch Automotive, who is a friend of mine also (although has grounds not to be after being presented with that) and did a wonderful job.

He had to renovate it as well because my fella thoight he was dead artistic and spray painted skulls on the roof, destroyed the door cards and just generally ruined it. It's actually sellable now!

    Dirty filthy boy!!

My car however... If there is so much ad a receipt chucked in the back seat, he will be getting out and walking.

  4. Nice. Enjoy.

    Tell us more please.

A Twincharger, New or Used, colour etc, ?

Yep twin charged, 3 door, just over a year old, in red.

Full leather interior, sat nav, voice controlled Bluetooth, auto lights and wipers.

Winter pack so heated seats (thank God!) heated washers.

Reverse parking sensors. (don't think I'll be needing them in such a tiny car!)

Only small downside for me is the 7 speed DSG gearbox. Never been a big fan of auto's but it's the way things seem to be going. No manual option for the Ibiza Cupra. :( I almost feel like it's cheating and lazy! I like to be in control of the gear change.

But it was amazing to drive, chilled and comfortable when you want to plod along and very fun when you want to play!

  5. Thats a lot of cash. I'm sure there aren't very many customers on here who spent that much on a TSi Rapid or Toledo. I certainly couldn't have afforded that.

Such a shame how it's turned out.

I think I payed exactly the same! Although I love mine. No rattling, no problems better than my Fabia and it was brand new! Something I thought I would never be able to buy as I grew up watching my mum and dad scrape together pennies to buy old Vauxhall Cavaliers which needed replacing every MOT. So I'm happy!

  6. Does sound like cruise control, almost as if it was automatically setting. Can't say I've ever noticed it myself, surely if the car was still maintaining speed without your foot on the pedal this is not something to be brushed off as a "product enhancement" or whatever... It's a "this need to come back in now..." It's very dangerous!

  7. I disagree Chris somewhat... Sat Navs that offer some warning allows the driver to slow down safely if they are deviating from the speed limit as it draws their attention with sound, and as we all know how easy it can be to deviate. Personally I'd rather be keeping my eyes on the road and doing 35 than constantly diverting my eyes to the speedo.

Whereas if there is no warning, and someone catches the yellow fiends too late... What is the reaction? They will slam on. Sometimes regardless of whether or not they are speeding as they don't have time to check and slow down so they slow down regardless. I see it all the time people doing 30 will slow down to mid 20s.

My Columbus doesn't warn me, not a big deal. But I have found it useful before when I had a stick on one. :)

  8. So... contacted dealer to see what options there are and he says the Columbus Sat Nav DAB unit is not listed as suitable for my car?

    I'm pretty sure he's wrong...?

If it eases your mind my dealer when trying to source the surround for my Columbus told me the same, said he didn't even think it fit and wouldn't be able to get a surround for it.

Needless to say... It does fit... And I could get the right surrounding.

  9. Thanks Natalie, I saw your thread with photos. Looks really good.

I would have to say I've had pretty good DAB in vehicles I've driven (drive a lot of hire cars) and in an Octavia I had it was very good.

Did you get the dot matrix sorted to display stuff?

Apart from plastic fascia , is there anything else I need to get?

Who did you buy your unit from?

    Thx.

I bought mine from Sat_nav_deals on eBay. Around £500 do make them an offer though because I got a bit of money knocked off. :) really easy fit and I love it. I took mine to Skoda and gave them what they needed to program into the VCDS for maxidot, and despite them coming out and saying they couldn't do it and had to roll back it now works! So a nice freebie. ;)

  10. You've bought an item that was defective, therefore you have returned it. It was not fit for purpose as per the sales of goods act therefore you should not pay a penny more and should have what you paid refunded.

Doesn't matter how big or small the item is you agreed a price. You've paid some towards that price, found out about the issues so sent it back. Why should you have to fork out a penny more for it? I'd be mentioning solicitors at this point.

Are you not getting back what you've already paid? Surely that should be the case?

  11. I sort of agree with the minimum Bhp but my 1.2tsi produces around the same as my old golf 1.6... I know which one is quicker (and better on fuel) I've also driven some VERY quick cars in my time and think that the rapid is an ironic name as we all know it isn't and even with a 180bhp version it wouldn't be that rapid :) I personally would like to be back in the 200bhp+ club but where would it stop...

I kinda agree with the Sport, luckily it's not plastered on the back and is quite refined for the most part bar the wheels and interior so people don't know it's meant to be a Sport. But time it right you can take off like a little whippet. ;)

Yeah it's not the fastest car in the world, but it has suprised me on many occasions just how quick it can be for a 1.2, I've driven a few cars from 1.2 to 1.6 some on paper claiming to be 100+bhp (including that Corsa) and I tell you, I know I could easily nail them all with my Rapid.

We can't really complain about what we have, we knew it was a 1.2 when we bought it, I chose it over an 1.6 Octy 2 as that too didn't feel like it had much 'go' just kinda trundled along trying to drag it's heavy ass.

I've also driven the new Seat Cupra, the Astra VXR and every new varient of the Octy 3 VRS, Octy TFSI manual being my favourite hoping to get that one when my PCP runs out in 2 and a half years getting impatient however. :)

  12. Got my car back today. Incredible difference, the turbooo. Didn't feel like I was driving my 1.2!! It is quick, responsive, wonderful light gear change and steering. Bootiful. May I never have to drive a Corsa again. Which is probably going to be unlikely as my boyfriend has a 11 year old Corsa which I also hate. :( he too prefers my car over his lol

  13. So, I have to do a few outings for work, usually I get a 12 plate Focus 1.6 diesel, nice but feels heavy to drive. Unfortunately for me, I got in there too late and had a hire car booked for me.

Vauxhall Corsa 1.4i SE 64 place. Good god it's the most awful thing. It is so basic inside, has no *go* confusing interface in just about everything. The only things it had over the Rapid were heated seats (nice) and steering wheel, auto variable windscreen wipers and lights.

But, it was just horrible to drive, back was killing me and I literally had to have the radio pretty much full blast to hear it over the noise in the cabin, was deafening. I couldn't hear my sat nav! Which later died as the power outlet didn't work.

I longed for my Rapid, makes me realise we take for granted just how nice they are, how well they are built (mostly) I can't wait for tomorrow when we are reunited.

Anyone else felt the same when stepping into another car after your Skoda?

  14. Well after a much stressed ass whooping to all 3 parties involved in this rejection I'm left with 4 options:

1 wait for car to be repaired and accept it back = NO

2 Take another brand new Sport made from the Factory and carry on = ???

3 Pay all the negative equity in the Sport and walk away = NO

4 Take another vehicle of choice = ???

    Hmm 2 decisions [emoji57]

Can't just reject and forget [emoji19]

If those were my options I'd get an Octy, no questions asked. I've been a bit gutted to find I could get a 6 month old Octy VRs TFSI manual for around 19k when I bought mine for just under 15 new, now have to wait 2 and a half years to get what I could have had if I had waited. Oh well. Still love my Sport.

Don't know about better car Chris, it's just a pretend Estate smaller than the liftback. But that's my opinion. :)

How about a new Fabia? But that's a gamble with how new it is I guess.
