  1. Thanks for the discussion guys and the Simpsons link is great silver1011. I am tempted. As much as I like the yeti I think I need the Estate shape for my requirements (camping & hiking with the dog) and the Yeti is nice but I like the Scout shape much more. Perhaps Its time to take the plunge! Also I'd really like a sunroof but I guess thats not going to happen.
  2. There hasn't been any confirmation that there will be a Octavia III scout yet. The old one is still available as a new buy. Should I take the plunge now? What sort of discount should I expect for an outgoing model? I think list price is 23-24k for a DSG? Perhaps I should wait, but if a bargain were on the table It would be tempting.
  3. Hello Dodgy I'm in the Chartreuse valley national park halfway between Chambery and Voiron. In the middle of nowhere really, but that was exactly the point, to get away from it all!
  4. Thanks for the interest in my question everyone! I hadn't realized it would be such a hot topic. As my current Subaru legacy is a standard legacy not an Outback it has limited off road capability. It has under sump protection, permanent 4WD and poor fuel consumption (28-30 mpg). I could do with a bit more off road capability as I often drive up the Alps from the uk to an old farm I have there. It would be nice to get there on one tank, its around 650 miles door to door. Sometimes I arrive and have to ditch the car and wade through 2-3 feet of snow for the last half a mile. In fact I'm here now and the car is quarter of a mile away. Never a dull moment!. Not many cars can handle that, but I do need a bit more off road capability for when it's not too snow bound here. The Octavia Scout is a good size I don't need anything bigger, it's just me, my wife and a dog. The superb looks great, but I need a bit more off road capability. If the Octavia III Scout is as good as the current model I'm sure it would be perfect. Otherwise its probably still the Alltrack. The reason I'm not considering a new Subaru Outback is because there is no diesel auto version (the petrol engine, same as mine is v. thirsty as mentioned) and the 2010 Outback is ugly as sin (IMO). Any way lets hope the Octavia III Scout is a proper bit of kit and doesn't take too long to emerge. Otherwise perhaps a used low mileage current Scout.
  5. Dodgy, I had missed the Superb Outdoor. I'll have a look at it!.
  6. Hmm, thanks Sarge, that's quite a long wait. I might have to look closer at the Scout current version. Or there is the Passat Alltrack, but they seem quite pricey!.
  7. I'm new here so apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but I can't find any information on an Octavia MKIII Scout. Will it exist? is there any info yet? If so when's it's launch date? I am in the market for replacing a Subaru Legacy, and on paper the current Scout looks Ideal. It would be stupid not to see if there is new version though before taking the plunge!?
  8. HI Everyone, Looks like this is a great forum for owners and prospective buyers. I'm currently thinking of replacing a Subaru Legacy, with a Scout. On paper looks just the ticket. Sadly the styling of the current Legacy is just so awful I couldn't consider it, mines the old mk III version which IMHO is a nice looking car, what are Subaru thinking! I've not seen any mention anywhere of a new mark III Scout though. I'll put a new thread up for info about the 2013 Octavia Scout if it exists!
