DMF is noisy. How much should I expect to pay for a replacement on a 4 x 4 dsg car?
-
It’s a great car, I have the fl Scout, and I think that as you say haldex is gen4. Make sure that if you buy one the haldex filter has been replaced otherwise You may need a new haldex pump, a couple of hundred quid. If going for a diesel the fl will be a CR engine which is much quieter than the PD. CR engine is subject to the emissions scandal so make sure it’s not had the software updated or just get it rolled back.

Noise and vibration at idle
paddypaws replied to paddypaws's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
70k miles and it hasn't been replaced. Reading up on a few other DMF It does sound likely but 70k doesn't seem a lot. -
Hampshire/Surrey Independent Mechanic?
paddypaws posted a topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Could anyone recommend a Skoda / VW mechanic/garage in the Fleet, Basingstoke, Farnham area? Thanks -
I've started to notice some noise (regular droning, drumming noise) and a bit of vibration with a lumpy tick over at idle. Once you rev up it goes away. Its not bad and I don't think you'd notice if you didn't know the car, but It's definitely there. Any Ideas?

Stumped! Help with rear brakes?
paddypaws replied to robbbie's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
if the disks are 10mm smaller, are you sure the depth of the disk from the front face of the hub is correct? The disk might be laying to far forward or back from the correct position. Sounds like you have the wrong parts? -
Interpreting a bulb error
paddypaws replied to paddypaws's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Just to complete the thread, the 3rd brake light had water in it and a broken solder joint on the connector pin on the LED board. I prised the light open dried it out fixed the solder joint and stuck it back together with clear bathroom silicone sealer and sealed the board. Could have just bought a new light for about £40, but it didn't take long to repair. Done 600 miles since and so far so good. -
Interpreting a bulb error
paddypaws replied to paddypaws's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Yes thanks langers2k, I've had a search on here and it would seem water ingress is a common problem with these so I guess that would explain the intermittent bulb error as well. I'll have it apart and post what I find. -
Interpreting a bulb error
paddypaws replied to paddypaws's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I managed to borrow VCDS and it came back with this. I'm guessing this is the LED brake strip on the tail gate, can anyone confirm this is the faulty light: 1 Fault Found: 01503 - Bulb for 3rd Brake Light (M25) 010 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00101010 Fault Priority: 1 Fault Frequency: 36 Reset counter: 65 Mileage: 97670 km Time Indication: 0 Date: 2018.04.25 -

Interpreting a bulb error
paddypaws replied to paddypaws's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I don't have LED DRL's and my car isn't ex emergency services, I've had it from new so I know theres been no electrical mods. I think I've found a colleague that has VCDS and he will scan it for me. Hopefully I'll get to the bottom of which bulb its complaining about -
Interpreting a bulb error
paddypaws replied to paddypaws's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Thanks silver I've pulled over a number of times but everything I can see is lit, side lights, the 3w3s etc are all definately on. I've already done the number plates but I will replace those bulbs you mentioned, and see if that fixes it. -
Interpreting a bulb error

Thanks, for the help so far I'll try tightening up the bulb clips, another bulb error came up today. If only It would tell me which one, it's a pretty useless warning system with out the full menus on the dash! -
Interpreting a bulb error
paddypaws replied to paddypaws's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I've reseated all the bulbs in the rear light clusters. The bulb warning hasn't come on again yet fingers crossed. I noticed the brake light bulbs are a little bit cloudy, If the error re occurs I'll replace those I think see if it fixes it. -
Can anybody point me at an app that will give me info on which bulb is giving an error. I’ve been getting an error about once a week and then it goes away, for about 6 months. However I don’t have the maxi dot menus or VCDS. There’s obviously a bulb out of spec but its still lit. How can I work out which one, it’s driving me nuts, I don’t want to just blanket replace all of them!

Octavia MK2 FL fitting Hids whats the final verdict
paddypaws replied to Jtheg's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
There isn't a definitive answer. There are too many variations. For what its worth mine has done 65k miles with a London colour kit with absolutely no problems. All I did was have it coded. However, that said many have reported damaged BCMs. I can only assume the BCM differs depending on model variant or the people with problems had install issues or coding issues and caused damage that way. Relays are a dangerous load for a BCM without a diode, so therefore by adding just a relay you are just swapping one dangerous load for another one. Some automotive relays have diodes built in and they will save the relay from damaging the BCM. Relay without a diode will damage any electronic device driving it. Tread carefully, I can only report my experience -
If you've no preference why take the risk?

There is a very large number of people on a Facebook group that have had their car ruined by the'fix'. They're not getting their 'fix' on my car. https://www.facebook.com/groups/955027937948541/?fref=nf

Bulb out warning - Does Carista help?
paddypaws replied to paddypaws's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Spoke too soon, two days later bulb error light on again! Anyone know how I can find out which bulb is the problem (without VCDS)? -
Bulb out warning - Does Carista help?
paddypaws replied to paddypaws's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
After an educated guess it turns out it was the number plate bulbs that still worked but were blackened. These festoon bulbs don't seem to last long. -
Last couple of weeks my Bulb warning light keeps coming on intermittently, but no light is out, so I've either got a loose connection or a weak bulb that hasn't quite blown yet. I don't have Maxidot. So, will the full Carista App tell me which light is the suspect one. (I've tried Carista lite, it doesn't). Thanks

A 30A fuse means that circuit is capable of delivering 30amps, and it was not loaded as you mentioned. A DAB radio will draw 1 amp tops, so its not that you are drawing too much, you're drawing hardly any current at all in fact. Glad you got it sorted though.

Winter Rims for skoda scout
paddypaws replied to twostrokemick's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I also have some 10 year old Audi A4 alloy rims with an et42 and 7j with 205 55 16 winter tyres. Perfect for the Scout. Just be aware the more modern A4 wheels are lightly different size. -
Octavia Scout fuel consumption
paddypaws replied to jon999's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
My unfixed 2.0 CR Scout averages long term 49-51mpg. I'm leaving it unfixed because of the anecdotal component failures, and slightly higher fuel consumption.
