Scout Haldex Differential Noise
On subject of wrong holes etc I've searched on here for the correct viscosity of oil for the rear diff but everywhere it just brings up the haldex oil figures as that is the main subject as I'm pondering if they have put haldex oil in the diff and maybe the haldex is dry resulting in the snatching if i can cal lit that through not being wet enough so want to change both.

2014 Octavia 4X4 correct rear diff/transfer case oil specification
Morning all, The haldex specs are pretty obvious for the Gen 5 haldex, what isn't or apparently isn't as clear from the search function ( as it keeps bringing up the haldex oils ) is the correct grade and volumes of oil for the diff & transfer box. Could anyone point me into the correct direction please? Thanks

Scout Haldex Differential Noise
Bad choice of words sorry, the pre emptive engagement would better describe it, my previous car ( a freelander 2 with gen 2(?) haldex) did the same test but was similar to what you describe, with my Octavia, it does it in a straight line or with fill lock makes no difference and you definitely feel it to some extent every time you pull away in some format either a light thump or series of light thumps up to 15 mph.

Scout Haldex Differential Noise
I've got a similar issue with my 2014 elegance 4x4, slight whine from diff area which wasn't there before i took it back to the trader I bought it from to fix the 4x4 system, allegedly it had a reconditioned pump and haldex oil changed but it comes back with a whine and stone chips in the windscreen, so its either had what they claim and they took it rallying to test it or they've stuck a functioning 2nd hand diff under the back end and still took it rallying. either way when the system kicks in it does so with a light thump and when doing its self test mod from a stand still it does it with either s single light thump or several ones up to 15 mph so a service is on the cards at the very least.

'14 Octavia Elegance 4X4 haldex Queries?
Morning All so recent purchase I mentioned has now done its first 1000 miles in my hands, but not before some teething issues: Initially no 4x4 system working and classic only 1 half of the heater working, took it back to the trader who sorted it after pointing out the forum posts about both issues ( but not without some "i know better than you" attitude ๐ in the need Its ended up with a new heater direction valve and allegedly reconditioned haldex pump and oil change allowing the 4x4 system to now work. funnily enough it seems I ended up with some fresh coolant too so it may of had the matrix flushed through too ( still with the "Mitt Silica" bottle though) but also some windscreen stone chips and a slight whine from the rear end which wasn't there before i got it back ๐คจ Given his attitude and the distance from home I'm not bothering to take it back to him again but fully suspect its either had a the recon pump and oil change as he claimed to fix it and the took it rallying resulting in the screen stone chips and whining noise starting or they shoved a second hand diff and haldex system under the back end which hasn't been looked after.. either way I've got some questions as I want to look after the back end and make it last. Firstly as I intend on keeping it what spec oil and service kit will I need for Diff & Haldex as I can do that myself? Secondly I know from my time with other haldex equipped cars that they self test when pulling away to check the road grip levels, my old freelander 2 that it would chirp at low speeds when maneuvering then only worked when required. This will sometimes react in the same way yet other times it will test with some soft thunks as it kicks in the rear wheels which can go on up to 10-15 mph, is this normal or the symptom of something that needs a service? Thanks

'14 Octavia Elegance 4X4 inbound purchase
Left a deposit the other day on a 14 plate elegance estate 4x4 116k in the lovely blue colour. with the exception of 1 dent in the passenger rear door and a small bonnet stone chip (which dealership is sorting, ) its a minter, 1 owner and looked after, belt & pump done etc and services up to date. plan is for a tow bar and a set of roof bars as with the kids there's bound to be something I'll need to transport that way!
