  1. I used to have a Cupra Ateca before covid happened, the price I paid was I believe 27k. Now the absolute cheapest available looks to be 31k second hand, so I can believe that. What's strange is that my current Cupra Leon Mk4, 3 months old, is only worth 25k according to the valuation sites. Crazy.
  2. My old Octavia vRS TDI 4x4 (2018/68) is listed nearly 6k above the price I got it for in Jan 2021, and they've had it since October '21. Jumped ship pretty quick in to a Cupra thanks to the higher prices but it just goes to show how crazy all this is at the moment.
  3. Just want to add to the topic, what a fantastic guide and thank you to the OP. Just fitted the referenced camera to my new vRS estate and it works a treat. Cable rods are a must. And for the original boot release button, I gave in to my anger after 20 minutes and just prised one of the clips off. Obviously only do this if you don’t mind essentially breaking the original.
  4. If you mean the ballasts, then I secured mine on the slam panels above and behind the light units themselves. There's holes already there for the bolt on the brackets (coincidentally...) and to keep it nice and tight I bought some felt pads to put between the ballast and the panel, then cable tied it at the other end from the bolt. The ballasts I have had a bracket which clipped on to both ends but only bolted through one - wasn't too happy with that design especially since they were hanging down. I've got a pic somewhere i'll try and find it... Edit: Here's the pic
  5. Knew it was only a matter of time before the Remap question was answered! I don't reckon the 3-pot has much more to give than 110bhp if i'm honest. A Euro 5 1.6TDI 4-pot can only reach a useable 145bhp at best (before it gets really expensive). However, someone somewhere will offer their car up for development at some point... And then we'll know. For now, it's a pretty new engine.
  6. I was thinking of getting one just like that! - Would you be able to post a few more pics possibly? Of the front and rear etc?
  7. As awesome as it sounds no you can't! Genuinely thought It said Leon!! The 2.0TDI Bit threw me off. I'll get my coat.
  8. I've been on that thought path myself, especially the 184 DSG, but I keep seeing Leon FR's EVERYWHERE.... Would prefer to have a car that i'd hardly ever see another. Only ever seen one other Monte estate, and a handful of Hatches
  9. 1.9 PD also only had a 5 gear 'box. I can't say I haven't daydreamt about it myself - but it'd be mega bucks. If you were to do this, you'd might aswell get a donor 2.0TDI with 6spd and transplant it in. (If it were to be possible)
  10. If it was DPF related you would have a DPF filter warning light in the dash and (if your car has it) the maxidot would display a written error, not just the glow plug light on its own. So you can rule that out
  11. I don't like it. I don't want to like it. I shouldn't like it. I kind of want to like it. .... I think I like it. Upgrading mine come spring and can't decide between a new Fabia MC or possibly an Octy :( Yours looks a lot sharper than my "all black" estate.
  12. Take it from me, a Monte Carlo looks epic and very stealthy.... When it's clean. Then it gets dusty. Then the swirls arrive. But for those brief couple of days where it's clean after a wash, it'll keep you smiling!
  13. Sounds spot on to me. I usually get 100-104 depending on how much progress I'm making and if there's any incline. However I've seen it shoot up to 110 when the DPF was regenerating.
  14. Just tried that site and got a 6k saving on an Octy vRS TDI at 20k and 15k for a specced fabia at 15k. Quite good that! The finance quotes are very high though, would need to get a price match at a dealer and take advantage of 0% (I'm only 21 so kinda run off PCP)
  15. From the pictures above, it just looks too much like a normal Fabia. Yes it's got a massive spoiler in the boot lid and a rear diffuser glued on, but the standard kit isn't great and to spec it to what i'd want I might aswell get a bigger car for the same price. The estate also can't be configured with DSG as of yet, i'm not sure whether that's a bug or if it won't be an option (The dealer I spoke to in Cardiff said that it'll be available in that combination, but then again I corrected him when he thought the TDI could come with 110 in DSG when it can't). Hmmmm. I'd like to seen an estate Monte, might pop to my Leicester branch soon see if they've got anything.
  16. I need to visit your dealer!!! Brand new Mk3 vRS for that much is too good to pass up!
  17. Just priced up what I'd want/need (MC Estate Diesel) - £20,300?!?!?!?! What?! Considering there's ex-demo deals on Octy vRS's and loads of low finance deals, I'll be saving for a Deposit on an Octavia by the looks of it. Just makes more sense for the money.
  18. Done some searching and the Mk3 I think has the newer EA288 common rail which is slightly different to mine, gonna contact DTUK and see if they would be happy to update the software / confirm it'll work with my similar engine if I take this off your hands. I'm defo interested in this.
  19. Is that for the 1,6TDI CAYC (105bhp)?
  20. I bought these as sidelights about February last year, never let me down by flickering and/or errors on the dash... And they do compliment the HID kits quite nicely albeit a bit more white, but I like it. Link Shortened
  21. Always wondered if that would be possible with the Amundsen. Is yours an "Amundsen" or "Amundsen+"? As I was looking to update mine (just says Amundsen on the top) and have no idea whether it's 310 or 315.
  22. Insurance on my 2013 Monte surprised me too - I was insured as a named driver on my previous two cars in my dad's name - this year I went on my own policy and it was only £762 with 3 Years "Named driver no claims". Been looking at upgrading to a Leon FR in next spring and that only bumps it up to 800 for a 2.0TDI 184 DSG!
  23. Welcome to the forum! Myself I've not heard a release date for the new Monte, there's a lot of rumours that they should be in showrooms soon with deliveries from autumn. We have a Mk3 1.4TDI DSG SE spec on our drive and the gearbox especially is fantastic (albeit letting us stall pulling away from the steep driveway if you don't put enough power on). The Diesel engine is quite loud and clattery we think, but the inside is a really nice place to be. Very comfortable indeed. Not a great deal of legroom in the back. Reliability wise we've had a couple of times where the radio crashes until you restart the car but mechanically its been great. Not particularly interested in the new Monte unless they add some more powerful engines.
  24. Nooooooo!!!!! I recently had 562 until 20 miles to go. Better luck next time eh!!
  25. The Conti's that came with mine from new lasted me only 11k and grip was awful after about 9k. Currently running Michelin Pilot Sport 3's on the front and 15k later still going strong, and the grip is superb especially in the wet! Will be able to run these through the summer and change again for winter.
