  1. i almost got my paper filter past the maf!!! but the car went into limp mode when it blocked the tube completely as it could hardly get any air im using pipercross the lower pic of the 2 above been in just under a year havent noticed any probs yet i pull it out when i do a service and clean and check it. the reason i use it is simple it wont suck up and if i get 2 years with it then it prob works out cheaper than OEM paper one i paid 40 quid for piper one and paper ones are about 12quid each and in two years i would use a minimum of four mileage dependant so its safer in my opinion
  2. i am only pd130 hybrid though trying for what i think is called the magic 200bhp lol yeah i bought one of the txautosport cooler when they were 79 quid but they stopped my order before it went out damn bank hols lol
  3. Even if the pipes don't exactly meet you can loosen the housing bolts on the turbo and rotate till its in the correct position that's intercooler pipes btw exhaust side is cast and cannot be altered I don't think
  4. Can't remember my offset on my old wheels but that was the restriction it cleared the top but not the spokes, I run ronal s3 avus wheels now and there offset is et35 but they clear nicely with a small bit of room Yeah shame your so far :(

  6. Thanks binzie. Oh crap forgot about map sensor I wonder if that needs to be certain distance from turbo or engine for correct reading ? I was thinking either run both pipes bak into where the smic used to be and then follow Oem path or run top pipe the Oem way and bottom pipe round the bak of rad at the bottom

Cars go wrong even for the most experienced mechanic, I'm not a brilliant mechanic but I get myself into these kind of situations also from time to time my opinion I would try to knock it through as it is but don't smash it cos you may bend the arb if it don't go cut the same side you have all ready cut so it is flush with the arb again try not to damage the arb then knock it through hopefully that will work

  9. I have porsche brembos I bought caliper carriers off of eBay and just put that I was using 312mm discs in a message but the adapters were marked up for a mk4 golf but my standard 16 inch wouldn't clear might have done with 10mm spacers it was very very close

Have you actually ran a certain amount of litres of fuel logged mileage and worked out mpg manually to make sure your trip comp isn't giving false readings, and sometimes fuel filters look old maybe a bit of rust from memory they aren't that expensive I think I get them about 20 quid might be worth a shot if it saves you 20 quid of fuel this year then at least it kinda pays for itself. My egr was completely black when I bought mine spent a whole day takin everything off and cleaning boost pipes intercooler egr that helped with mpg also if the fuel filter looks old change that I noticed 5mpg from that but as stated earlier a bad map will cause bad fuelling but if you know someone with vagcom you can do some logging to see if its been mapped. My mpg shoots up by 10-15 mpg with maf unplugged I just put that down to an incorrect reading from the maf. such a shame as looked very hard to find a good mapper because I was worried for my car hopefully faboka s map will sort me out, who has done your mapping big jase? And also danham who did your map? Lewis

  16. Yes help from faboka is muchly appreciated I will try to log group 1 today at some point do you think there is some stuff that you would change? If so maybe we could arrange me driving to you possibly so you can have a proper look maybe I will pm about that also I forgot to mention its a 130 hybrid not 150, I'm pretty sure we have established the mapper is at fault I think I'm not up to speed on what boost is measured in but the last time I was there he said turbo was doing fine and actual boost is within 0.100 millibar of requested boost, thanks for all replies again

  18. He did say that was the lowest he had ever seen i might get it compression tested it needs a new rocker cover gasket so would you be able to see camshaft wear when that's being repaired? It is also due for a new cambelt in next 5k but if timing was out would it not run weird and wouldn't it throw up error codes that the mapper should notice he runs full diagnostics before and after.

Thanks gobsheene but when I was doing my research about 8 - 10 of my friends went to storm and all of them went somewhere else within 6 months as the maps were terrible but I'm prepared to drive just need to save the pennies now as I def want a fmic before anyone tries to get more so I have made sure that its 100 per cent ready for that power so its all down to the mapper then.
  20. Just doing the logging now faboka thought it may be worth mentioning when my car was standard it only pulled 129 bhp and about 210 ft lbs
  21. Stage 2 hybrid can't remember all the numbers gt17 high flow compressor wheel enlarged exhaust side by 4.2mm uprated pad, I think that's most of it I can dig out paperwork if you need exact numbers

Thanks for all the replies much appreciated yes southwestincartech do have some connection to Celtic tuning I believe and he has said my current intercooler should be fine but it might be a good idea to change if I could I've been looking at some today so probably will have one fitted by next week he is unfortunately 45mins up the motorway so not close i have been returning because he has been trying to help diagnose why we are stuck at 170 so 1 trip maf was faulty next trip thought the cat was restricting so I kept going back to see if it was running right and before I knew it i am here now after 10 tries, he sent me away Saturday with possible tandem not sending enough diesel so will check this tommoro at a deisel specialist how plausible does this sound to people who know about these engines more? Also on his website he quotes 193 bhp - 309 ftlbs of torque on stock everything
  23. Not sure if maf can be mapped out but the mapper says its reading correct volumes and when I unplugged it because It was faulty and you could genuinely feel more power but now feels same
