Hi guys! I thought might be useful for someone if I share my experience with tailgate problem. My Superb is from 2017 it is a hatchback. Started to stop during opening few weeks ago and just became worse and worse. Until I was able to open it by manually. Using OBD11 I was able to find out that the opening procedure was cancelled because the lock. The lock itself has 3 sensors and one of that was giving wrong signal to the hatch. That stopped the procedure. Two of the three sensors are visible so obviously the third showed false reading. Spent some time to try to reach it and washed well spraying WD40 through it. I managed to remove some dirt and left it testing for a week before put the liner back. It is working since then, so problem solved for me. I hope it is useful, good luck gentleman!

This might have actually solved the issue with my Superb - 2017, hatchback.

I am very glad I came across your post! Thank you.

It all started with warning that the tailgate is open although it wasn’t.

Then the tailgate didn’t open after quick press of the button. I needed to hold it a bit and then it went all the way and beeped at the top position.

Then it didn’t want to close. It only went up. I had to close it manually. When opening (with a longer press) it only went up for 40cm.

I actually didn’t remove the inner trim when treating with the wd40 (it actually wasn’t the original wd, but the one from Lidl :)). I spritzed it through the latch lock. It didn’t work immediatelly. It needed a day or two.

  2. Hi.

Has anyone managed to upgrade headlights (from A to B ) to get DRL whiskers and SLA?

    Can it even be done?

I guess it’s not just a matter of replacing headlights with the ‘B’ version an some VCDS coding?

High beam assist is great but having SLA would be mega.

  3. Great result.

A big thumbs up to the good old days where mechanics (rather than parts fitters) try to identify and fix a problem rather than blindly swapping parts until they get lucky.

Yes. A big thumbs up from me to!

It looks to me as though someone has been into that wiring before. It looks like the wires are wrapped in electrical tape, not something I've seen on factory fresh wiring looms.

You know what?! That's exactly what he pointed out. But I'm the owner from the day one and had no issues with wiring till now.

That's probably another unusual thing about my car. This was the first one...

  4. Today I finally managed to get in touch with the auto electrician to check the wipers.

the diagnostic tool listed a wiper motor connection problem. Just after that the electrician wired additional wire from cabin computer(?) (around pedals) to wiper connector. Then he turned the key an switched the wipers on. The wipers started to work. :)

So the problem was in the wiring and we just needed to find a cause for that.

As soon as we took the battery out we found this:

This wrapped bunch of wires was rubbing the sharp edge of the battery holder.

This one was taken after the battery holder removal:

    unwrapped and wire damage inspected:

    Fix in progress:

    And fixed:

All that has been left to do was place the battery and the air intake plastics back an pay the man for the job well done.

    btw... remember this?

I went to the dealer (left the car there) where they diagnosed a motor failure.

  5. So... Went to a friend of mine on thursday. We removed the wiper blades, removed the plastic just under the windscreen to get a close look at the motor and to check the motor part number. We removed the connector to check the pins and they seemed okay. We even got a hold on three wiper motors from VAG to check and neither of them worked.

We disconnected the bonnet switch btw so the computer thought the bonnet was closed while we were testing other motors.

So no luck for now, but got the phone number of a good auto eletrician.

  6. Hello. A minor update.

I tried to reach the motor connector to check the pins, but I failed to remove wiper arms. I sprayed WD40 half an hour earlier but no luck. I will visit a friend of mine to try with the puller.

But I managed to squeeze a hand under the windscreen trim and disconected the plug. Pins seemed OK. After i reconnected the plug, I tried again, but no luck.

So the plan is to keep looking for a used motor replacement, visit a friend with a multi(volt)meter and diagnostic tool.

    Cheers

  7. Well that's nice to hear!

Did you have to open the motor?

By electric connections you mean the pins on the connector?

Any detailed description (if you think is needed) is welcome!

    Thank you for the answer!

P.S. found this switch meanwhile. Not that expensive :)

  8. Hello.

I have an issue about my wipers. This one day they started to work with full speed for few wipes although the wiper switch was off. So I switched it on an off and sprayed some windshield washer fluid and it stopped acting unusual.

The next day they stopped working. Nothing happened no matter what i did with the switch. So I checked the fuse. Fuse OK.

I went to the dealer (left the car there) where they diagnosed a motor failure.

The day I picked it at the dealer the unusual routine (few full speed wipes although the wiper switch was off) happened again. Again... everything seemed OK until the next day when they refused to wipe.

I don't know but it just doesn't seem right to me that the motor is the problem.

So if anyone has an idea or had or heard about this wipers issue, please share :)

    Cheers

  9. Interesting to know as my car been having the same issue since I had new front and rear brake pads installed. Mine had around 65K Miles when it started.

Can you check them yourself, I guess you're checking for movement?

    Many Thanks

    Paul

Had the issue even before brakes replacement. My mechanic checked for movement. Nothing has been found.

But I noticed something interesting. Just after the car is dropped from the lift the wheel vibration is reduced. But it eventually increases.

    Cheers.

  10. Hello everyone.

Has anyone experienced this problem? It's a Vrs tdi FL with 130k km on a clock. No major isues with it. It vibrates on summer and winter wheels (both balanced). Brakes are newly installed.

I noticed it at arroud 80k km but it was barely noticable. Vibrates a bit more when accelerating with steering wheel turned a bit to left.

    Any ideas are welcome.

    Cheers.

  11. Hello.

I bought some brand new Eibach Pro spacers (S90-9-11-002) from ebay:

    - 11mm per wheel

    - hubernetic

    - 5x112/5x100

    - 57.1

...and foud out that the diameter of spacer is about 1cm less then diameter of a hub. So there is a 5mmx11mm gap round and round. Pics are attached.

    Could this be an issue?

The seller stated (in his add) that the spacers fit to Skoda Octavia 1U/1Z. Which they do, but i can't find these spacers in Eibach catalogue for my vRS.

    Any thoughts?
