Dashcam fitting
Interesting observation re car sockets. The Karoq socket is permanently live the one in my wife’s Citigo is switched with the ignition. Her Nextbase unit is just plugged into that socket. Will be interesting to see what socketed is available when I get the new Kamiq - thanks for the heads up

Dashcam fitting
Hi guys when new Kamiq arrives I’ll be fitting a Nextbase unit. Karoq had dealer installed Kenwood unit. Be aware that some insurers regard a hard wired dash cam as a notifiable vehicle modification. Discussing this with my insurers they said if easily removed would not need notified ( he meant plugged into a 12v socket. The Nextbase head unit can easily be slipped out for the mag mount so should not cause this picky issue

Kamiq Hill Hold ?
On the auto box cars the handbrake is really considered as a parking brake and the expectation is that you hold the car on the foot brake. Not how I was taught but I was always on manual cars. Friend got reprimanded in driving test for handbrake use. My Merc actually had a foot operated “handbrake” so it really only could be used for parking.

Assist systems not working
My Karoq sensor does this from time to time in wet weather. Usually from parked and it clears after a mile or so. Did it once on the M6 near Manchester in heavy rain and corrected itself after about 15 mins or so. Dealer says common occurrence.

Corroded rear discs
The dealers will almost always try to upsell pads and disks. I have had the same conversation over the years with my Yeti and now with the Karoq and no doubt after a couple of years the Kamiq too. The disks are rarely worn badly although you do need to make sure that the brakes are working.

How to select/dismiss messages from Waze shown on the Navi Screen.
On my Karoq you can only do things via the touchscreen and I assume Kamiq will be the same

Bolero / Apple problem
Hello all Minor but annoying problem. Recently started using Apple Car Play through the Bolero unit in my Karoq - mainly to use Waze app and it all works pretty well. My problem is if using phone it shows a voice mail message and I cannot clear it. It is NOT on the phone and if I check voice mail I from the phone it is not there but it is stored somehow in the Bolero unit - anyone know how to clear it? I don’t want to reset everything if can avoid. Thanks in anticipation Grumpy

Brake replacement pricing
Hello Just been quoted £415.00 to replace from pads and disks - seems quite pricy can anyone in the forum advise if this is reasonable? Disks are over £300, Pads are £95 and 4 caliper bolts at just under £10 each. I'm assuming labour in there as not identified on quote. Would appreciate a sanity check please. 1L Karoq.

Locking Wheel Nut?
Interesting discussion on the point of which wheels to put the new tyres on. My wife's CityGo handbook says put new tyres on front..

Cam belts.
Just been quoted £550 at local main dealer. I will have to do it though as some years ago we had a couple of Alfa Romeos and both self destructed within a week of each other and the belts were only half way through the recommended interval. The damage was catastrophic. Painful but, for me, not worth the risk. Does bug me that my Land Rover (Ford/ Peugeot) diesel was spec’s for 10 years or 100,000 miles. I did have an issue with Skoda some years ago (was posted at time) when I bought my Yeti in 2013 and then they said every 3 years. I worked with a German office and we checked their local dealer and at that time Germany was 5 years so I complained that the UK was being taken for mugs - they replied that it was being increased to 4 years and it subsequently changed to the current 5 years.

Parking brake releasing itself.
Have manual Karoq. 2 points - mine was recalled for software change to stop unwanted brake release (never experienced myself). The other point was my wife, when driving it, inadvertently switched off the auto brake function - the switch on my car is beside the actual brake lever/ switch. Took a while to realise what had happened. Had called Skoda support before noticing the system had been switched off.
