  1. Hello Just been quoted £415.00 to replace from pads and disks - seems quite pricy can anyone in the forum advise if this is reasonable? Disks are over £300, Pads are £95 and 4 caliper bolts at just under £10 each. I'm assuming labour in there as not identified on quote. Would appreciate a sanity check please. 1L Karoq.
  2. Interesting discussion on the point of which wheels to put the new tyres on. My wife's CityGo handbook says put new tyres on front..
  3. Just been quoted £550 at local main dealer. I will have to do it though as some years ago we had a couple of Alfa Romeos and both self destructed within a week of each other and the belts were only half way through the recommended interval. The damage was catastrophic. Painful but, for me, not worth the risk. Does bug me that my Land Rover (Ford/ Peugeot) diesel was spec’s for 10 years or 100,000 miles. I did have an issue with Skoda some years ago (was posted at time) when I bought my Yeti in 2013 and then they said every 3 years. I worked with a German office and we checked their local dealer and at that time Germany was 5 years so I complained that the UK was being taken for mugs - they replied that it was being increased to 4 years and it subsequently changed to the current 5 years.
  4. Have manual Karoq. 2 points - mine was recalled for software change to stop unwanted brake release (never experienced myself). The other point was my wife, when driving it, inadvertently switched off the auto brake function - the switch on my car is beside the actual brake lever/ switch. Took a while to realise what had happened. Had called Skoda support before noticing the system had been switched off.
  5. That is good to hear. Wish mine did. Other moan is not easy to lock file quickly. On Nextbase there was a button on back which you pressed to lock an event. On my Kenwood you have to go via a menu - can't do when driving - otherwise it does work very well. Good luck with yours - can be very useful.
  6. THat's fine but the dealer installed Kenwood Dashcam is not removable (at least easily). I'd asked them to install my Nextbase but the gave me the Kenwood with installation for free as delivery was late. The Nextbase was easily taken out and in my opinion was abetter dash cam

  8. Interesting Thread. I have the 1.0L and it will spin/ scrabble tyres when pulling away at junctions on wet surfaces - the TCS is woefully slow at responding - having said that last car was 4x4 Yeti. The Hankook tyres on my Karoq are not the grippiest but it is embarrassingly easy to break traction even with the 'little' engine
  9. Just jumping in - I got a 1Litre bottle of the correct oil in the car at delivery. Got this with previous Yeti also so easy to get correct oil although I agree the handbook is useless - I complained to Skoda customer service and only got waffle BUT my dealer did give correct info when asked
  10. My Karoq is 2 wheel drive but my previous 4 x 4s (Freelander and Yeti) had drive options . Usually snow mode smooths out throttle response and will alter outbox settings if you have an automatic box - usually equivalent to staring off in 2nd gear to reduce torque effects. The modes will not really affect the basic 4 x4 functions
  11. Skoda manual says if driving less than 10k miles per year should be on annual service interval if more than 10k then on flexible. Quite normal for oil to be used while engine beds in and should settle - Yeti (2.0L D) used around 1 litre in first year then really just a small top up between services. Diesels do tend to consume more than petrols. The Karoq is harder to estimate as it got its first service at 6K - (not working anymore so mileage way down) and it's level had only dropped by around 1/4. The dealers like to sell annual services to make more money.
  12. Interesting take on the dealers / manufacturers response. The clutch failed on my Yeti at 35k miles (2.0L diesel) - the only symptom was a slight judder when pulling away from a stop and a 'scraping' noise which was not audible inside the car. I had to cover the cost of gearbox removal for the diagnosis but was invited in to inspect the damage - it was worth the visit. In my case the damage was due to parts failure Skoda paid some and the warranty company paid the rest of the few thousand pounds as the gearbox needed rebuilt. The dealer was exemplary from providing a car, covering me with their insurance and handling all the paperwork.

Slight deviation from original thread. iPhone has just updated IOS and now when activating the phone via the steering wheel buttons (or the main touchscreen) it has not listed the recent calls - did before the update. Anyone else had similar and do you think VAG will have update for this. Trying to avoid dealer as not a major issue but does make calling out more of a pain. Thanks

  15. We talked this one before. Very difficult to see the rotary switch - the dash tell tale was way safer. Also they have removed the headlight adjust switch for us peasants with Halogen headlights. The Yeti I had was Xenon equipped. The Karoq SE only has the Halogen lights. Had load in back and went to adjust beams and found no switch - you are expected to trawl menus on the touchscreen which I suspect for most users just will NOT happen - I know my wife will never find it - all to save a couple of Euros for a switch and bit of wire.
