  1. Can you back up your opinion on the supaguard with any facts or unbiased test's that this is not a good product, and the other brands that you know off are far better. I for one dont get brain washed by all the PR stuff that comes out of car valeter's mouths, about certain brands. they are only repeating what they have been told and are trying to sell that brand. At the end of the day, it depends on how good a job who ever puts it on, not it's price or reputation of the product.

I Don't think supaguard, lifeshine or any other dealer-supplied products are particularly bad, it's just they are overpriced when sold by dealers and often applied by valters who are not given the time or facilities to apply it correctly.

    Better options are:

    1. Get the dealer to throw in the products and application as a freebie.

    2. Buy off Ebay and apply it yourself after a Sunday wash and you'l get some self-satisfaction, as well as saving hundreds of pounds. Re-apply or upgrade the products whenever you fancy.

    3. Employ a Detailer who will advice you of the best products to suit your car and budget (often cheaper than Dealer's options), safe in the knowledge that it's applied by a professional who cares about your car and their own reputation.

  2. I'm not going to try to post a photo unless there is a desparate plea for one. The pictures on the Superskoda website give a pretty fair illustration of the finished job and I doubt that I could show anything better.

Consider this a desperate plea then!

The SS images are not entirely clear on how the grille matches the lower honeycomb sections and looks a bit recessed back. Also would be nice to see it on another colour other than black (But I don't know what colour your is?)

I would be interested to see the fit of yours and how it blends with the lower grille, and also if your extra metal mesh helps to make the honeycomb openings a bit less exposed?

Here's one of the Superskoda images for comparison:

  3. Think a few others miss read the op as I did and thought you speced without cc but since you got it your dealer had demanded more from you. I later realised you speced it originally,/asked if you were due some cash back as it's now standard, and were told no as the whole car pricing regime has changed ( increase in basic spec rrp as well as adding cc to basic spec).

It's an interesting point though, those of us who specced cruise may not get a refund now it's standard, but anyone who didn't tick the box will now be getting it FOC.

  4. I've always had used cars, usually 5+ years old and loved every one of them, but they have not been the most reliable and my current 172 isn't exactly ideal for family outings (but great fun on the back road home).

My next car had to be practical for family life and safe and reliable. Good MPG against possible long commute in future so I'm shifting from hot hatches to diesel estate that I'll keep for a long time ( thinking 10+ years for the right car)

Looked at mk2 FL octy vrs, but a new mk3 Octy vRS made more sense with the warranty, 3 yr servicing, no MOTs for 3 years, good MPG, good family car, not to racy (wife is happy), still a bit sporty (I'm happy). With the bonus of 0% PCP means I can keep cash in the bank which suits me right now having moved house recently.

Yes the car will depreciate massively, but I intend to keep it a long time so I'm willing to take the hit. Yes I'm paying monthly on PCP, but it's at 0%, I can afford it and suits me right now.

Used and nearly new cars still have their place, my wife's Focus was pre-registered and the old model, got it for an absolute bargain, paid cash and she is happy.

I'm looking into older sports cars now for a weekend toy, something I can enjoy working on and driving and won't depreciate much.

What I'm getting at is new cars have their place, as do used. Sometimes paying cash is better, sometimes finance can be worth it.

Everyone has their own story and circumstances so unless you are getting into something you can't afford to maintain or can't afford to make payments then it's all good, feeding the automotive food chain.

  5. Anyone tried the diy wheel repair kits for minor curbing? I have been tempted to try one as i have a curbed front

I've repaired some on my own by rubbing down and using high build primer before paint and lacquer, not too bad if you have a good colour match for a silver wheel.

I wouldn't attempt a dark wheel with a diamond cut though, best left to a pro.

  6. But I don't think your average Skoda driver cares about looking cool anymore - I'll personally leave the looking cool to the young uns and their associated higher insurance premiums.

That's fine, I won't be fitting them to my vRS and I'd imagine you're average Focus or Golf driver isn't interested in this type of addition either but they are still plenty of options available for those who do.

I don't know what the average age is for a Skoda driver, are they considered an old persons car?

And sneaky OP for starting a thread only to provoke a reaction, :p

  7. Worse, it was a quick MS Paint jobbie :D As I don't have PS on the machine I mocked that up on. Not bad considering a couple of people seem to have thought it was real. :p

I've not seen the grill on any real life cars yet, just the ones from MK2's. I think the MK2 carries it off nicely, the O3 is probably going to be less likely as I think it looks a bit...... fussy and the cells are just too large.

It's a good mock up and certainly discourages me from ordering it.

Hopefully someone can fit it for real and prove us wrong though.

  8. And folding mirrors are on there as a £100 option.

    Huzzah!

(edit: but to select them, you have to also add electric seats, and to add them you have to add leather, and if you add leather you have to add heated seats.  So total cost is £100+£700+£600+£200 = £1600!).  Boo Hiss.

Could be easier to retrofit the mirrors once the parts, wiring and coding is figured out though.

  9. Glad I took the plunge in October for the 0% with 5% discount.. Beginning  to look like the correct call. Not that it was intentional, I also missed the early adopter syndrome.

Agreed, it's gone up twice since I ordered, and I don't even know when mine is getting delivered yet.

With the price increases and discount i've essentially got all my extras for free now (at least i can tell myself that). Add on 0% and servicing then it makes it look like bit of a bargain last year, despite the delays.

  10. Just got confirmation from my dealer that it is indeed not available on the vRS as of now - but it may still yet change so he will dig a bit more and let me know. Just seems insane that the vRS wouldn't get the 'sporty' wheel but the SE/Elegance does! Especially as they can do it per the Geneva pics.

Possibly an ommission of vRS on the MY15 notes since its avaiable on Citigo (SE & Elegence), Rapid (SE & Elegence), Yeti (SE & Elegence). They just forgot about vRS and copied in Octavia (SE & Elegence).

Maybe they dont have them in silver/red stiching yet? or more likley the have a healthy stock of round steering wheels with vRS stitching? Geneva was a show car so could easily have a sample wheel with red stitching.
