I think some of the judgement on the OP's car choice is a bit harsh.
We all know the vRS diesel is not a zippy wee sports car, but it doesn't have to be to get around a track. I'll bet it can do it reasonably well too,I recall there was an octy diesel nurburgring video on YouTube that certainly didn't look boring.
If the op enjoyed it then good on him.
Back on topic I have noticed the 2500 limit, can anyone confirm that disabling esp allows it to be revved?

Cool, can you post some pictures? All the ones I've seen so far are not so clear.Picked up my MY15 VRS yesterday - Flat bottomed steering wheel with the VRS badge.

I think with that set up i'd be concerned what happens in the fast corners...
Steve
It seems quite consistent in the fast corners, I think I can feel it tightening up while accelerating out of the junction into some bends at the end of my road. I don't know how progressve the setup is (does it remain constant when you go over a certain speed?).

I can confirm my 2015 car switches modes by repeatedly pressing the button.

is the space under the variable boot floor useful or not?
Yes I usually have the VBF flat and hide all kinds of stuff underneath, golf umbrellas, rain coats, camera gear, tools. Whatever I might need on any given day leaving the main load area free for the shopping or whatever I'm taking to the tip etc.
The main benefit of the VBF though is it allows a flat load area once the rear seats are folded down, I think it would annoy me if I had to lift items over the folded rear seats while trying to load them in. Another plus is that the standard boot floor underneath seems to be made of cardboard, and although the VBF has a load limit it does seem to made of better stuff than the actual boot floor, so you can just drop it to the lower level and have a better surface to carry heavy items on.
As for other extras, I went for the power tailgate. I'm not sure it was 100% necessary nut it's a cool toy for me and I'm glad I specced it. I was worried about getting tired of waiting for it to open and close but so far seems fine and haven't had any issues with low ceilings in car parks yet! Makes the Octy feel a bit more upmarket for myself anyway, whereas I couldn't justify the cost of Columbus/Leather/panoramic roof to add the same type of premium feel.

My 2015 car has it, but it does seem much quieter than the demo I tried. Maybe they have toned it down a bit from the factory.
I wasn't sure if I was going to like it after trying the demo, but now it's barely noticeable unless gunning it in sport mode, it just seems to blend a bit better now with the diesel chatter.

Continental sport contact 2 on my July 2014 UK registered vRS TDi. Anthracite Gemini alloys.

I've just had my diesel vRS DSG for a few days, my first non manual car.
I chose DSG over manual for those lazy 50-mile dual carriageway and A-road commutes and so far I am impressed. For cruising around in normal traffic or with the family at weekends the DSG is perfectly fine with the Diesel engine.
Sometimes it will kick down a bit harshly while pulling away from junctions etc, but I think I just need to recalibrate my right foot to the pedal a bit.
When I feel like pushing on a bit it seems to pick a higher gear than I would like through corners and roundabouts, being in 4th wheel 3rd would have been better, but just click the box back into sport mode and it's far better at choosing ratios and holding gears for more stable and predictable cornering lines.
If that's not enough then you can override the box with a flick of the paddle, or slot it left into full manual mode if you are really gunning it.
So, the box works perfectly with the diesel if used as intended; D for comfortable cruising, S for pushing on, M for pretending to be a racing driver.

Mine came with one yesterday, I would image they are happy to throw in the 30-pin ones since the lightning type devices have been available for a good while now. Happily I still have my iPhone 4s and a 5th gen iPod.

I've seen you going about a couple of times. Car looks nice.
Really? I just picked it up yesterday.

If it's just a case of mismatched plugs then would an auto electrician manage to splice the looms together?

Finally picked up mine today after Dec 19th order.
vRS TDi DSG Estate in Race Blue with anthracite Gemini alloys.
I opted not to have the black pack, but was unsure if I made the right choice until today, looks better without it in blue for me.
Options were cruise, VBF, power tailgate, sunset glass, winter pack, mitsumi, spare wheel.

Update… popped up to the dealers compound for a sneaky look at my car and the steering wheel I've got is is the optional flat bottom Supersport MFSW wheel used on the SE and Elegance… no VRS badge.
Will pose the question to SUK (as have found an extremely helpful contact there) to find out about retro-availability/fitting and update accordingly. Doesn't really bother me so no biggie… but If they're retro-fitting them to vRS's in Germany as GatorLinearFade has mentioned, there's no harm in asking!
Probably just a parts shortage then, looks like the chrome surround is a different shape on the flat bottomed one (unsurprisingly) when you compare the two so old badge wouldn't fit.

Agricultural vehicle, what did you expect !
Agricultural vehicles, nuff said ?
Yes you've said enough, now leave us tractor drivers to our own torquey fun.
-
The badge that's missing will be available from BW34 onwards, but in Germany they will be retro-fitted to cars built between BW22 and BW34 for free. Don't know whether that applies to the UK as well.
Good info! Should be picking mine up next week.

A couple of pics of my new vehicle.....including the "flat" steering wheel!
Nice, is this the first MY15 car on the forum? Should there not be a vRS badge on the bottom spoke of the wheel?

Golf R > Octy vRS. 300 BHP and 4WD would be magic.
I need the boot space, so Octavia Estate for me. I did hear rumours of a R wagon though, that would be interesting...

Damn! I wish I had seen this picture before I have ordered mine
+1, hope I'm not too disappointed with the B&W when it arrives.

Took my car for a run Sunday morning and the results are above. The car is run on standard diesel, none of that expensive stuff. The box was set to 4+2.
If I'm honest I am a little disappointed in the figures after seeing the graphs towards the start of this thread as that was run on 4+1 BUT they are just numbers at the end of the day. When you consider how the box has transformed the pull through the rev range I'm over the moon.
I'll have to run it again on another meet and pay for a couple of runs to try it on a few settings to compare.
That's a healthy output.
It's been said a few times on this forum that dyno calibrations are not consistent, with some being more optimistic than others. A before/after comparison on the same dyno is more useful than comparing results obtained at different places.

Actually it has all of those. Can't remember if the footwell lights were an option in the UK.
No footwell lights on any Octavia III in the UK. it can be retrofitted with some parts and coding:

You mean they stop to damaging you wheels when you kerb them? Surely it's better not to drive you car into kerbs?
First time I've heard of them here, seems like a good idea but I guess it's the same as keeping a smartphone in a case to prevent it getting scratched. It serves the purpose but slightly compromises the aesthetics of the very thing you're trying to preserve.
My phone is naked, and I suspect my alloys will remain so too.

Have you got flat bottom steering wheel without Vrs badge
in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)

I'm also badgeless but not 100% sure I want one either.
There are some photos in the MY2015 thread.
