  1. In theory fuel economy should be same at stage 1 (maybe better on a motorway run), but you may drive it harder so see less m's to your g's because of that. i think once you start on stage 2, and different fuel pumps and injectors, it would start to use more fuel.
  2. From other similar posts, if it fits the 150 it should be fine...usually need a reducer to fit it to the standard exhaust though. I've never done it mind!
  3. Good to know. I don't think its illegal to delete it, think its only illegal if fails MOT, maybe for noise or emissions, but not due to lack of back box
  4. £200?! Thats a fair way to a cat back system. So a generic back box...or one from my local longlife place I'm sure would be a cheaper option.
  5. So my standard back box is starting to blow, not much right now, but it will get worse. So the question is, back box delete, or do they sound terrible and should a smaller back box be fitted for some extra (not mad loud) sound. Rest of the system is stock, and I can't afford a full system right now so will just upgrade as bits go (or I get more cash). I've heard a few people do a back box delete, but recently my exhaust blew at a joint and prior to clamping a short section in, it was not bearable. Fun for an hour, but if thats normal for a full exhaust with out a box, then I'm out. Has anyone just popped a smaller back box on for a bit of extra sound? Heres hoping to the down pipe blowing soon....
  6. Thinking of sticking with petrol whatever i get just due to being cheaper to fix and not much dearer to run really, especially as we don't do many long drives, we live in lakes so rarely a constant cruise.
  7. Surely only as bad any vag from that time as far things not working? And would never expect it to handle that well, but some coilovers and anti roll bars might help. Would probably just lower it and pop some 18s on, and maybe get it mapped if I really thought it needed it.
  8. If i could afford the fuel for a 2.8 I would.....a cheeky 2.8 turbo sleeper bus would be amazing, but never gonna happen ! !.8t has then 6speed box so not bad on fuel on a run, and cheaper to fix than a tdi...plus I'm liking the vrs engine reliability and ease of fixing.
  9. Still thinking of changing car as wife needs something taller, thinking either a Jeep Grand Cherokee or a Sharan/Alhambra...seen a 1.8t sharan, not up on the engines in them but its 150bhp so imagine it can be mapped to 180-200 easy enough and all the usual 1.8t things apply. Anyone had one????
  10. another forum mentioned those sensors too, i'll have it scanned asap. is it e big job to do those sensors?
  11. runs fine once started, turns over normally just doesn't catch until 2nd or third attempt. And as the EML came on when this problem started, just wondered if it sounds familiar to any one. Will get it scanned when I can, staying in Lytham st annes till friday.
  12. So my vrs has suddenly started having problems starting, it won't catch and takes a couple of trys. Also the EML has come on at same time, wondered if it was the battery but don't have a meter with me as on holiday right now. Any thoughts???
  13. I've been putting off a long over due oil change, but fitted led puddle lights under the doors. Super cheap, super easy mod that's actually helpful! Also looking at the Wak box mod....even cheaper for a bit of extra air and noise.
  14. 32ish average, round town and short a road to work, but 40 on a run, 44 with premium fuel. I only use premium if I'm doing a motorway or distance run, 10% increase is pretty good! Did'nt seem to do anything for round town driving though.
  15. So, just wondering if anyone knows if a mk4 3dr golf electric window cable will fit the octavia? (front obviously) CheerS!
  16. Mine came off really easy yesterday...but that may have been to do with the truck that reversed in to it.
  17. As far as I can find out, the best suspension mod (if not done already) is the rear anti roll bar, that will improve handling more than just lowering it with nothing else. I would be getting H and R springs and bilstein shocks personally.
  18. So looking at getting an alhambra with the 1.8t, cheaper to fix than a tdi, cheaper to buy, and after a map not that bad on fuel on a run. But they have the AWC engine with a K03, are there any main differences or known problems with these or is it basically the same as my AUQ but with a k03? Cheers
  19. Mines silver and i rekon a dark bronze, deep dish rota grid would look class.
  20. I think they look good on Rota Grids, or Team Dynamics 5 spoke (which ever they are, pro race 1's?)
  21. Really like these, was tempted by a set going cheap, but were told they are very heavy, how do you find them handling wise? Looks wise I'm already sold!
  22. Get on that one! I think you should go for it with the whole colour scheme to prove it can be done and look good! Could always get the mirrors and strips painted instead of wrapped.
  23. I'll add that my £265 price is within a few quid of half last years cost!
  24. Seems theres a drop in prices on vrs's then! Just renewed mine today for £265, standard but I'm 26. Funnily enough though I swapped from admiral this year after a 4 year stretch with them. Also, seems there are mixed reports about them insuring mods too, on the phone they say no way, but works fine online.
  25. Again, initially not my cup of tea, but with other white bits it could look good! Maybe white mirrors and bump strips? yellow and white can work...
