  1. Sounds normal to me assuming the chirping is birds and not from the engine.
  2. Would be good to know!
  3. Thanks for the reader recommendations. Dealer resolved problem, they covered labour due to the previous coolant loss. The other electric water pump had also failed. Should all be okay now!
  4. Hi Sorry, it’s a 2017 Superb Estate SEL Executive with the 2.0 TDi 150 manual.
  5. Hi Using generic reader I get code P26F4 which is related to the secondary water pump isn’t it?
  6. What's 50k?
  7. Hi, My local franchise dealer has not been performing very well in recent months and with a latest repair resulting in loss of coolant and RAC recovery, and EML coming back on associated with the first repair, I want to do my own diagnostics before going near the dealer again. The dealer replaced the secondry water pump as they said that was causing the EML, but this problem still remains. I saw mention in another thread some time back about a relay sometimes being the cause rather than the pump failing. Where is this and where do I get one? What code reader do people recommend for the Superb mk3 as well? Thanks,
  8. I am also finding OBDEleven a bit confusing. I don't know what plan or pack would meet my needs? effectively I only want the maintenance and service functions not reprogramming...
  9. Hi Thanks. Did I see the price for VCDS is around £200??!
  10. Hi, I am looking at what software tools to get for doing maintenance on my car (e.g. rear brake unwind for pad changes etc.) and also for fault code reading. Having previously had Ford products I was familiar with Forscan and another tool (can't remember its name) which were Ford platform specific. I only need to be able to run service functions like the above mentioned brake unwind for pad / disc change, service interval setting etc. and also to read fault codes and reset fault codes. I do not intend to change the car programming as I find the car is fine for me as stock. What software / app / OBD port connector should I get? Thanks!
  11. Hi again So for clarity the standard suspension front wheel drive Superb only needs Rear of car supported and rear wheels off Disconnect headlight levelling sensor Disconnect bottom of rear dampers (supporting hub with Jack whilst doing) Allow rear suspension arms to hang Pull spring out and then replace with new and reverse procedure No additional steps correct? It isn’t clear to me if the talk of additional hub removal etc is for 4WD only? Thanks,
  12. Hi thanks for the reply. So on my car being the standard (soft) suspension I don't need to worry about additional items beyond unbolting dampers and headlight level sensor?
  13. Hi, Thanks for the reply. Is this a definite then as saw on another post about someone having to undo the lower hub suspension bolts to get further movement to pull the spring out? Thanks,
  14. Hi, Does anyone know what spring compressors fit the rear springs on the Superb mk3 estate? Thanks,
  15. Thanks all for the help. If I have to manually change the headlight setting is it left hand or right hand for it to switch? Ie does right hand mean if driving on the right or is some reverse logic applied?
  16. I am a little confused from searching posts on here what functions the car completes when entering europe. My car is a 2017 SE L Executive with the xenon headlights and navigation system. Will the car automatically adjust the headlight direction and digital speedo to KM when I cross the channel and into Europe? Or do I need to complete this manually from the settings menu?
  17. The toe is in mm I have discovered. Just need to convert this into degrees reliably.
  18. Hi J.R. The diagram has the figures displaying. Toe Camber Castor (no reading) Toe Camber Front axle total toe +1.48 Rear axle total toe +1.54 As these aren't shown as degrees like in camber, are they metric so in mm? Thanks!
  19. Hi again, Please see image below. Are the toe angles for both axles correct?
  20. Thank you for confirming. I had a bad time this morning getting four wheel alignment and ended up with a steering wheel much further out of position than it was to begin with, so decided to get it roughly where it should be by doing equal amount of adjustment clockwise/anticlockwise depending on side with a view of getting it tweaked at another garage. Steering wheel almost centred straight now ready to get the final adjustment by a (more) competent person later in the week. I then had a minor panic moment in my mind that they might be opposing threads but I had put the car back on its wheels by this point and late in the evening! Thanks,
  21. Hi, The track rod threads on the Superb mk3 are standard right hand thread irrespective of which side of the car they are on correct? i.e. They are not left and right handed Thanks,
  22. Hi again, I have done some online research and there is no mention that I can find of having to remove the drive shaft on the Golf Mk7 which is also an MQB platform car like the Superb. Does anyone know for definite if it must be removed or is it only removed to enable working space for the VAG press to separate the ball joint out the hub?
  23. I chose Superb because in UK they were available for similar price with similar mileage and condition but better spec. If it had been the other way around I would be driving a Passat.
  24. Hi, No DCC, standard suspension and no leaks from dampers having inspected them. I have purchased Lemforder front control arm lower ball joints, and these look relatively straight forward to install though the official manual makes reference to removing the drive shaft. Is this necessary or can they be replaced without separating drive shaft from hub?
