  1. No oil service warnings but I believe the method is the same? I follow the process and the display shows "Reset" but it isn't!
  2. bigadel1 Tried that but no luck. I've read elsewhere that sometimes it's just not possible to do the reset the way you describe and a VCDS scanner is needed. Another member, local to me, has oddered to use his scanner to do the necessary and I'm just waiting to arrange a meeting. Very frustrating as it seems most folk are able to clear the message using the dash button. Regards
  3. Thanks varaderohuy and paulski. I will take look to see if there's anyone near me who can do the necessary. Regards
  4. I have tried resetting the 'inspection due' message by following the instructions posted here and elsewhere i.e. 1. Press the button 0.0/SET until dash lights up. 2. Keep holding button and turn on ignition (do not start car) 3. Keep holding button until "Reset inspection - are you sure?" is displayed. 4. Release button and press again to reset. 5. Dash displays "Service reset". But it isn't reset and the "inspection due" message is still displayed. I've tried turning on the hazard warning lights whilst performing the above, which was one suggestion but no luck. I have a DCAN/USB connector so I could install some software on my Windows laptop if I could find something suitable at a reasonable price or I would buy a scanner but the ones I've seen advertised only state they clear error codes but I want to clear the service due message and none of the ones I've seen make it clear that they can do this. Any help appreciated. Regards
  5. That sounds about right. I wasn't aware that it was possible to set up different profiles. Now I understand I'll stop worrying. Thanks
  6. I have only recently needed to use the spare key and find that when it is put into the ignition it automatically locks the doors. The 'default' key does not do this. Why is this?
  7. The Infotainment system in my '64 Octavia has suddenly started switching from DAB to FM then to AM then from radio to AUX. Could this be associated with the current very hot weather and high pressure? Also the Bluetooth connection to my HTC phone has been lost a couple of times recently - could this be anything to do with the above i.e. if the above isn't atmospherics could a failing Infotainment radio component affect the Bluetooth? Thanks
  8. Can I, fairly easily, install an Android charging cable to the righthand side of the windscreen where I have a phone holder as the cable from the cigarette lighter won't reach that far? Thanks
  9. Success at last! Having apparently downloaded and unpacking the update successfully onto an SD card my Columbus kept failing the update. I tried reformatting the card in smaller clusters and extracting the files onto the card many times. As a last resort I downloaded the update from the website again and Eureka it worked first time! I just wonder how it can be that the first download was reported having succeeded and was apparently the same size and content as the second attempt? Just pleased it's worked but disappointingly there's still no house numbers for many minor roads so my normal, and I bet most UK users method of searching for a location, is either by postcode and street name and number or directly with town, street name and number. Being prompted for the nearest junction to the target location is useless as most users won't know the nearest junction and anyway it could be a considerable distance from the target - that's why they're using a satnav. Grrrrrr.
  10. Had no trouble downloading or extracting the files to the SD card. I'm using a 32 gb Sandisk SDHC 1 Extreme Pro card formatted FAT32 which has 3.4gb free after extracting the files. Any more thoughts?
  11. I downloaded the maps version ECE 17 - I wasn't familar with the file numbering but that wouldn't have mattered as my car maps are ECE 15 so the update would have been welcome. BUT multiple attempts to update the software have failed first at 3%, after which I reformatted the SD card and now at 51%. Given up for now. Anyone else experienced problems like this is in the past and if so what's the solution?
  12. Well done Eltezz. I contacted Skoda via their Faceboof page and they said they'd pass on the error. seems like they did what they promised!
  13. I've just recently bought this secondhand car. The version number is V03959800MD0098 ECE 2015 I find the satnav not all easy to use compared with the Kenwood unit I had in my previous Octavia. The Columbus doesn't seem to be able to use the contacts from my Android phone - I think it's something to do with the vCard format?
