  1. Had the timing belt and water pump done yesterday at the garage mentioned in my last post, over the moon with the service and price, when I dropped it off I asked how much a new diverter valve would be as the car is on 92000 miles now and has been remapped in the last 6 months, he said he would fit a new one and only charge for the part (£33).

So all in for belt kit, water pump and diverter valve it was £333, I asked how the old belt and pump looked and he had them on a tray in the garage for me to see, they still looked in good condition, although they were 4 years old they only had 39000 miles on them, I will be back later in the year for a full service £180 including genuine parts.

That is cheap! Best price I can get to in reading is £400 for cam belt, water pump, thermostat and coolant, I think this is a very good price and am more than happy but £333....wow lol

  2. I used a guy called AMTuning in the end, he is a mobile operation but does have a base in Devon and Hereford I think, he is on Facebook and I paid 175, results were good, car feels better mid range.

Would I use him again? Probably would yes.[/quote

you say feels better if you have a good stage one the difference is massive

i recomend p- torque every time , had 6 cars done no probs at all and results are fantastic

I would agree Slider, dont get me wrong the car feels very different and perhaps if I had spent more money by going to a well known tuner then I would have had a bigger increase but for £175 I am very happy with the change :)

  4. Hi all....i know there are a billion threads on this subject but i just have one question which icwoukd like an experienced answer on, my 56 plate vrs tfsi is recommended to use 5w30 oil but i was on the rtech website today and they recommend 5w40 for the tfsi especially if mapped so thats what i have brought and am doing an oil change tomoz, is this ok? Will using 5w40 break my engine?

  5. Depends what age your car is, the part changed slightly around 07/08.

    Earlier type is 06F 129 101 N.

    Later type also have an extra valve on the back, so part nos. 06F 129 101 P + 06F 103 215 B

thanks mate-I should have mentioned the age! its an 06 I have read somehwere there is an R revision now?

  6. hi all

Have had a quick search but cant find a specific answer so......

Had my car mapped recently and was expecting an increase in MPG (I don't rag the car everywhere) but have noticed a significant DROP in mpg in the same conditions as I was driving before (I know there are many factors including tyres, weather etc etc) but I have a feeling it is the PCV as have had the occasional erratic idle.

Does anyone know the correct and newest revision part from Skoda (including any gaskets if required) so that I can replace as I understand its only a £40 part.

    Cheers in advance :)
