  1. Had the N/S/F CV joint replaced along with the drop links ... however now on full left lock it has developed another noise ... which the garage seem to believe is related to the power steering ??
  2. Been a few months since I last updated this however a few unfortunate events have occurred: December 2014 - MOT Time Took the vRS in thinking it would sail through its MOT and was told that it had automatically failed due to a dangerous fault and was unsafe to drive due to the one of the suspension bolts being sheered off in replacing the bushes ... it transpired that the garage that replaced the bushes (a different one to that undertaking the MOT) had not fully screwed the bolt back in ... their response "oh well this stuff just happens" ... anyhow once they had rectified this issue and a few other minor points she sailed through the MOT for another year. March 2015 Took the vRS in due a knocking noise when the car was placed in full left hand lock ... it transpires that the near side CV joint has failed and is causing the knocking ... so that's booked in for repair next week.
  3. Ended up putting it into T H Flory in Middlesbrough who extended the cable and rewired them back into the existing connector and no issues since ... all for £40 in no time at all.
  4. Had the front wishbone rear bushes replaced today with Powerflex ones with a very noticeable difference along with the near side front CV boot. So hopefully it should sail through it's MOT.
  5. Been a good 8 months since I've updated this ... not really that much happened to be fair ... replaced the front discs and pads and had issues with it cutting out/not starting ... this was all down to the common fault of the starter motor solenoid wire splitting and then completely snapping ... luckily this was a £40 fix to get the cable lengthened and wired back into the connector and all has been running fine since. It's been in for it's annual service in October, from which a couple of items were noted: - Front wishbone rear bushes needed replacing, so I have a set of Powerflex bushes to be installed hopefully this week - Near side front CV boot is split so is being replaced this week at the same time as the bushes are being installed. - Rear discs and pads need replacing Will need to pull my finger out as the vRS is due an MOT by the 6 December 2014, fingers crossed that's the only work it requires before Christmas.
  6. Just got a labour only quote of £42 per side So could get Super Pro for £200 or Powerflex for £135 Which bushes are preferred ? Super Pro or Powerflex ?
  7. Having previously been quoted £180 to replace the bushes with oe bushes I just rang North East Auto Tech ... he quoted £200 to replace them with Super Pro bushes. £20 more than all the others to replace them with a poly bush
  8. Just got some more quotes from: - Volkswerk (VAG Specialist in Middlesbrough) at £85 a side ... £180 total. - Vasstech (VAG Specialist in Darlington) at £87.50 a side ... £175 total. Just waiting on a call/email back from North East Autotech.
  9. My Fabia vRs was in for a service the other day and was told the console bushes require replacing. They provided a quote of £90 a side to replace them with an oe bush ... £180 in total. Bearing in mind the powerflex bushes are circa £50 ... I was looking for a garage in Teesside (Stockton, Middlesbrough, Darlington etc) to fit them. Any recommendations ?
  10. Morning, it seems my 54 plate fabia is possibly suffering from the 'wire of death' (loose/damaged/broke connection to the starter motor) ... does anyone have the details of any reasonable mobile auto electrician in the Teesside area ?
  11. Upon breaking at a junction last night I was greated with a sound similar to they rythmic thud of a flat tyre resinating around the cabin. However as I pulled away this sound dissapeared, once home I checked the tyre pressure and all are fine. There is wear left on the rear brake pads and no sounds can be heard from outside the vehicle. Someone at work has suggested checking the wheel nuts ... is there any other suggestions ?
  12. Is it a different repair kit for an electric window rather than a manual one ?
  13. It's a 54 Plate What is the likely £ damage from a garage/dealer as I need it doing asap ?
  14. Is that an easy/cheap thing to repair or is it the whole regulator ?
  15. I went to drop the passenger side front window and all I heard was a clunk and then the window dropped part way and stopped, I can still hear the motor/regulator whirring inside the door, but no motion from the window. The window is now permanently open, how can I get the window up so the car is secure ?
  16. I've had it in to the tyre place here ... as I originally thought it was a puncture and they said they had sealed it etc. now 8 weeks later its doing exactly the same.
  17. It appears I have an air leak possibly through the rim ... is there any other way to sort this other than replacing the rim ?
  18. Are they 2 or 3 way components ... as I was looking at these ... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141261152292?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  19. So what is the usual process: - Upgrade head unit - Upgrade front speakers with 6.5" components - Upgrade rear speakers with 6.5" coaxials - Run both sets off an amp
  20. What about Pyle ? What wattage output does the standard head unit give ? I'm assuming that the wattage of the speaker only really comes into play when utilised with an aftermarket head unit/amp ?
  21. I got my washer jets off eBay ... they were £7 each.
  22. So after JL Audio, Focal and Hertz what are the mid-range makes ?
  23. As the world of ICE is varied with a host of manufacturers ... are there any ppl would recommend for component and coaxial speakers for the fabia and any that I should steer clear off ? The OEM ones are starting to get a little crackly.
