  1. He'll need more than polish to buff that out! http://www.sheptonmalletjournal.co.uk/White-van-man-nearly-blows-polishing-dashboard/story-26141872-detail/story.html
  2. Hi, I've just finished the last of the turbo detailed, and restocked with BSD! There is nothing wrong with the turbo version other than it lasts just a bit less than BSD. I stand by my first quote in that it gives a slicker finish with a bit more gloss, but for the price you can't beat BSD.
  3. Some of the early diesel vrs' didn't have them, I only found out that mine didn't have one when a friend on here was sorting a few things out with VCDS and he noticed that the coding was missing from the car.
  4. Mine has had this fault for over a year now, but because it's intermittent and never been witnessed by the dealer/mechanic, they refuse to do anything about it, on the last service the dealer told my wife that if it happens again that she should try and video it! Lost faith with the dealer but not sure what to do now. Good luck in getting it fixed/replaced please keep us informed.
  5. Car is mainly driven by the other half with the kids in, so is far from being driven hard. I'm of the same school of thought as you pipsyp re the pads - I have a Audi A4 company car with 54k on the clock and no pads required yet. I did challenge the need for the discs and they just fobbed me off with 'that's what we would recommend' Looks like I'll be taking it elsewhere from here on in. Thanks for the quick response gents.
  6. So the car has been for its second service and the dealer rings me up to say that the front brake pads are 70% worn (just less than 21k on the clock), and that, if I wanted, I could have the pads done with the service - at a price obviously - but they also said that they recommend that with each change of pads they change the discs as well! I declined their offer for both as I wanted to inspect the pads myself to check their 'technicians claims' and have a look at the discs to see how much wear could be on them after only 20k miles or so. I've yet to take the wheel off to look at the pads in daylight, but had a feel of the discs and to be honest there is very little wear on them with about a fingernails width lip on the edge of the disc, certainly no more than I would suspect. Can this be right about changing the discs every time you get a set of pads? I would like to think the pads would last longer then this anyway, I know they quoted 70% worn so still some way to go before actually needed. Incidentally they originally quoted £240 for both pads and discs, but if I had them done at the time of the service it would be £180.
  7. How rude, repay the favour, and get a load of damp leaves, heap them up in the back garden, and when the wind is right set the heap on fire and smoke the buggers out!
  8. We had a similar thing with a transit van at work, where it caught fire with no obvious signs. The fitters reckon that there was a hole in the piston, which was drawing oil into the cylinder which was then drawn down the exhaust to the CAT which in turn caught fire. The lads said that it was running like a bag of sh1te prior to it happening (which you'd expect with a hole in the piston) so I would say the missus would have known something was wrong when she took it to the shops! Just a theory...oh and the van was a 12 plate with 60k on the clock.
  9. A few photos taken on Saturday morning, the car was washed the previous weekend and finished with a home hybrid of Poorboys QD+ and Sonax Turbo Detailer(50:50) sitting on top of a 3 month old coating of Gtechniq C2v3.
  10. No worries Mence, good luck with picking out your ideal vRS, a word of warning on the pictoris wheels, they are not the best to clean as they have those thin slits in the spokes and are hard to get in properly, and they seem to be a magnet for brake dust!
  11. That's gotta be worth all your hard graft in the heat the other day. Looks great.
  12. Good effort in this weather, I've abstained from doing mine because of the heat and I have no shade where the car is parked.
  13. What a shame that this hasn't really worked in the way you wanted, thanks for giving it a go and sharing the outcome. I'm interested in this kind of experimentation to see if you can get a best of both worlds scenario. Has anybody actually spoken to Sonax and expressed that we all love the durability and hydrophobic quality of BSD but would like a bit more in the way of gloss and slickness? Do they even have a customer feedback line of communication?
