LED Brake Lights (High Functionality)
mailme replied to YMe's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
This could be easily achieved with VCDS by assigning a new function to the rear side lights, making them come on with the brake lights. -
Overfilling oil is a real danger for diesel motors, it could lead to the motor self reving on it's own, even with the key turned off AND taken out ! Excess oil can pass to the cylinder through the cranckcase breather and admission pipes and act as a fuel, burn in the cylinder and keeps burning and reving the engine more and more until engine failure or blow up, the only way stopping it is to make it stall by putting a higher gear (5 or 6), but you need to know that, the usual reaction from any lambda driver will be to turn off the key but it's useless, once the process starts it doesn't need ignition, so overfilled oil is dangerous. The question is how much it is you car ? A little bit more than needed should be OK, like 5 mm above max mark. But a lot more is very risky ! Show it to your dealer.

There's allready a complete thread on Briskoda about upgrading Bolero MIB1. Just use the search button, BUT there is not any mirrorlink update for the MIB1 Bolero and there will probably never be any. Forget about it.

Changing diesel fuel filter - pressurised?
mailme replied to Robertino's topic in General Maintenance
Hi guys, I've done the fuel filter change on my 2013 Octavia 2.0 TDI last spring. I followed a topic about that but don't remember if it was in Briskoda or in another VAG forum. Although it's not really difficult, some things have to be done : - After the change, the primary fuel pump have to be primed with VCDS (or similiar device) to fill all the pipes and the high pressure pump with fuel. That is to avoid the high pressure pump to run dry. - Put a very very large piece of towel all around the filter to avoid driping fuel over the nearby coolant pipes (or anything else in the motor bay), wich can be damaged by gasoil. - Don't lose any screws of washer ! - Wear gloves and eyes protection, just in case. -
You don't need any hardware to reset the service reminder message : take a look at the user's manual, you should find the procedure to follow step by step. Quite easy, kinda like just turning the key, pressing and holding trip button for X seconds, etc.

What is this and... Should it look so oily?
mailme replied to Jaco2k's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Looks like it's the crankshaft cover breather. Is supposed to evacuate oil vapours and recycle them by burning them in the cylinder through air intake. It should be very oily inside, but the outside should be neither more nor less oily than the rest of the engine bay ! -
Octavia Mk 3 Instrument Light Issue
mailme replied to RIncewindwiz's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)

Add an illumination in internal door handle from L&K to vRS

Yes, it's funny named "travel mode".

As I understand it, auto hold is "pushing" the brake pedal for you by holding the pressure in the brake circuit (via ABS/ESP system), so I think it'll not be very legal to let the brake pedal be pressed without the brake light comming in. VAG would not allow such a tweak to be possible at all. If you don't want to annoy others in traffic (and that's a nice attitude), I'm afraid you'll have to use the hand brake...

Door trim 'decorative inserts'
mailme replied to flybynite's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Vinyl covering should be considered, so many colors and textures available (including "brushed" aluminium, shining or mat colors, wood, carbon, chrome. .. even gold :-) ) and really cheap for two door trims of few square inches to cover. -
Bought these for my Elegance. They are bright enough and are a huge improvement over the stock ones BUT they don't fit perfectly in the housing, they are missing a little bit of plastic that OEM ones have to make them perfectly fit. It's OK overall but you'll see a small gap of 3 or 4 millimeters when looking from under. I would never aim a high pressure water jet at them. Now two years later it's still OK.

Are you serious ?! Looks like a nice nordic troll :-)

As said by TDIum, click on "selection" (bottom center button on the screen) then click on SD card (on mine I have to click two times) to show up a line of icons including shuffle, repeat, scan. Click on shuffle and it will apply to the whole SD card.
