  1. Hi all

I've just bought my second O3 VRS which I can collect on September 1st.

It's a dealer order spec with only a few selected options and obviously I can't add anything now.

Just wondering, is the Apple mirror link a hardware addition or can it be downloaded onto the Amunsden system that's already in the car?

    Cheers

  2. Normally the temperature gauge reading is artificially 'limited' to the 90 degree figure and does not show the actual water temperatures variations that occur in normal operation. Obviously if a real overheating situation occurs then it will be displayed.

Seems standard practice amongst manufacturers to avoid customers panicking at every fluctuation.

You can see their logic as there have been many posts in this forum questioning various oil temperature readings that have been viewed, .

Since there is no corroborative evidence of actual overheating I would suspect sensor or software before pump.

Yeah I do see what you mean. I had a Vectra which used to sit at around 85 but if I went uphill it would rise to around 90-95.

I do think it was hotter than intended tho as when I turned the heaters on to full the dial started to go back down again?

  3. I've had it since November 2013 and its done 23k.

Mine had reached circa 120 but the oil temperature was fine and under the hood there wasn't any massive heat.

I don't think it was a wiring or sensor issue tho as when I turned the heater on full it cooled the engine down a bit.

Really don't know... It's not filled me with confidence before having to do a 200 mile journey on Sunday though.

  4. The AA guy said it's likely a water pump or software glitch.

He got to me 35mins after it happened and said the engine was nowhere near hot enough to have overheated. We ran it again with the aircon on cold with the revs held on and couldn't get it above 90 again.

Odd. He's said take it to Skoda and see what they say.. Hopefully they either find the fault and repair it or let me have a courtesy car for when we go away next week.

  5. Hi all

O3 VRS tdi with 23k on the clock.

Popped up the road earlier only around a 2m journey and on coming back I noticed the temperature had gone up above 90. I pulled over and turned it off whilst the dial was between 90 and 130.

Water level seems fine and the oil temperature was at its usual ~90oC. Also no visible leaks from what I can see.

Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be?

The temp went back down once I turned the aircon either off or to its hottest.

Supposed to be going camping with the family on Sunday too :-(

  6. Morning all

I am seeing Skoda this week and will be looking to have another O3 VRS off them to replace my 20month old hatchback.

In terms of the finance how does it work... Will it be a new credit check / finance arrangement or will the finance simply add the new car when the old one is handed back and the previous finance is cleared?

  7. Hi all.

Pondering a set of Heko Wind Deflectors for Bismark, my question is, how exactly do the fit to the car?

I know they don't stick as such but I can't see any other way of securing them.

    Help me out please :)

I've got Heko's on my O3 and they literally just slide into the channel where the window goes. Put them in and leave the windows closed for a good few hours so they set into place.

Not sure whether one of them just has weaker adhesive but when sat in the sun for a good few hours it can be a bit temperamental when trying to re-close the window.

Also they've added quite a bit of wind noise at motorway speed but for the amount of motorway miles I do it's bearable.

  8. I bought a second hand set off a former member on here. He mentioned how noisy his car had been, which i found odd, as my vrs Estate is quite quite imo. However, after a motorway journey with the deflectors fitted, i can agree, the car is now very noisy at motorway speeds. Ive since taken the deflectors off again... Just not worth the extra wind noise.

Drove down to London yesterday Greg and I do see your point on them being more noisy. However having the music on (even at normal 'kids in the car' volume) drowns it out.

That's worth knowing Greg thanks. I bought the eBay linked ones above - they came today so I'll fit them when I get in.

I'm driving to Wembley from Telford down the M1 on Sunday so I'll see if the noise is manageable!

  10. I collected my VRS TSi hatch late Friday afternoon after what seemed an eternity (in reality 8 weeks) .

Then straight home and loaded up with all sorts of motorsport paraphernalia, tool box, impact guns etc, then off on the 100 mile drive to Gloucester to drop my wife off, then onward to my sons place in Chepstow.

V/early start Saturday morning to get to the rally venue (my son was competing in my old rally car for the first time), got the car covered in mud-dust etc.

End of the event back to Chepstow to unload the rally car/van, back to Gloucester to collect my wife then home to Telford.

All up 400 miles in the first 24 hours and the car now looks as if she's a year old and not 24 hours since collection.

    First impressions, LOVING IT :sun:.

Time to get the pressure washer and snow foam out now and start the big clean!

    Photo's to follow.

I'm in Telford too. Have a race blue VRS TDI. Will keep an eye out for you!

  11. I think you've had enough snickers now - too many nuts!

Still got the fiesta, audi, Citigo go, nissan (x2) and three Yeti's?

As Jack said, you forgot the plethora of Fabias, the Polo and the Corrado.

    Try to keep up. ;)

Isn't there an ex-fully functional TT-RS being broken up somewhere too?
