  1. I'm so glad I got an answer to my original question...not!

No need for sarcy comments, yes we should have measured etc....

The dealer had the same dog crate as us and same car,  led us to believe that the crate actually fit in the boot, he obviously lied.......

    We bought a smaller crate!

That is the beauty of Briskoda! Ask a question, get plenty of irrelevant responses, the odd argument and if you're really lucky an actual answer! :D

  2. goodyear efficient grip for me. as I have said on other tyre threads, my experience with them is on a modeo so a different car but they were as grippy and as quiet as similar priced continentals (I had premium contact before) and returned notiecably better mpg, an extra 20 or more miles from a tank. after 9.5k I sold the car but they were lasting fine and showed no real signs of wear, even the fronts. based on this when I finally got my vrs and needed a tyre for the spare I bought a pair of efficient grips, they were about £95 each from mytyres after a couple of quid cashback from topcashback

Cheers Neil. Useful info, not had them myself before but having two fitted tomorrow. £104 each fitted and balanced.

  3. Basically no.....

    Your options are:

    1) DRL full brightness with ignition

    2) DRL full brightness even when switched to side light, rear lights and number plate lights also come on

    3) DRL dimmed and headlights as CH/LH lights when dark enough

    4) DRL dimmed and headlights and fog lights as CH/LH lights when dark enough

    5) DRL dimmed and fog lights as CH/LH lights when dark enough

The only way I know you can what you want, is to put some tape over the light sensor and select option 5 :-)

    Ah ok! Cheers anyway

  4. Is anyone else's front grille surround looking like it's been pebble dashed? Mine must have 50 specs of chrome showing and I've only done 3000 miles. At this rate it will be chrome by the time the year is out.

Yours must attract them! Mine has done 9k and still looks new. No doubt I'll have jinxed that now.

  5. Hi all,

I have a 2014 Octavia vRS, it has front assist fitted (camera) which includes lane assist, rain sensor and light sensor, I have Bi-Xenon AFSII headlights.

I am trying to see if it is possible to code High Beam Assist (HBA module 20)

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

(1)Coded the gateway to include Module 20 – HBA (I have ticked it)

    CAN3_zpsf95f8026.jpg

    (2) Check the adaptations in the gateway (HBA coded)

    HBAcoded1_zps68b9564e.jpg

    (3) Coded the front assist to include HBA and light assist (Module A5 frt sens. Drv assist)

    HBAcoded2_zps27a0891b.jpg

    (4) Checked in adaptations that HBA is coded

    (5) Changed adaptations in 09 CCM to include menu for HBA in infotainment

(Menu is now present and works)

When I activate the HBA by pushing the stalk forwards I get the correct symbol on the dash to show it has been activated with no errors (this threw up an error until I coded step 3)

However – When I activate it is just doesn’t work, the symbol is there on the dash but the high beams don’t come on at all and therefore don’t switch automatically.

I can override them by pushing the main beam stalk forwards again reverting to normal mode at which point the auto high beam symbol goes out.

I was to believe that the HBA module was part of the camera and light assist module and therefore only coding and adaptations would be required.  I can’t find any for adaptations or coding options relevant to the HBA.  The Long coder doesn’t show any tick boxes in my CAN gateway, as it must be too new.

However there is still clearly no communication to the 20-HBA Module

    Any info is welcomed

i will post this up on the ross-tech forum to see if anyone has had any luck on Golfs or Leons

IF we can get this working there will be a lot of vRS owners who would like it, its like a £300 optional extra

    Thanks

    Hi xpower,

Do you do this as a business or purely for pleasure?

I'm only in Telford and wondered if you'd make a few changes for me??? PM me if that's easier.

    Cheers

  6. Haha! I have seen the issues with those alloys! But my car is on a 3.5 year PCP deal, so it may be Skoda's problem eventually.

If anything awful happens to mine I may well do something similar to what you guys are doing and get rid of the polished bit! But until then, I intend to enjoy mine as they are :P

    What he said.

  7. I completely see the point of having a flat load area in an estate car. I also see a lesser benefit in having hidden storage space under the floor of the boot in an estate car.

I don't see the point in dogs, however.

*cue lots of people turning the VBF thread into an argument against gt40 for not seeing the point in dogs*
